Default Decision Help...

Okay, I got a great offer from a local dealer on a '04 in Torrid Red/Red interior auto. There are only 3-4 '04s left around me. Wish I could afford an '05, but that is not happening (d*** wife $$$) plus I can't justify the huge gap in resale value.

Should I keep the Z or buy the GTO? What should I expect from the GTO compared to my Z. Pluses and minuses.

Thanks all

Buy the GTO. I my opinion it rides a lot nicer and the interior is way nicer. The backseat is actually really comfortable for passengers also. Will be a little slower until you put a convertor in it.

+ It will ride better and have a more comfortable interior front and rear

- it will have a LOT less cargo space than the Z28

I've fit just as much stuff into the trunk of the GTO as I did in the back of my Camaro. The only advantage the Camaro (F-Body) has is that the rear seat folds down for bigger stuff.

The GTO is all around a much better car. No question about that. But the resale value on either the '04 or '05 right now isn't much, so there isn't this "GAP" you're referring too. Right now the resale on these cars is terrible thanks in part to GM's late '04 model discount blitz! It's kinda hard to sell a used GTO with 5,000 miles on the odo for even what the amount of your loan is, when you can go down to the Pontiac dealer and buy a new one with 10 miles on it for less thanks to all the steep discounting!

I was referring to the 33 cubic feet that you get when you fold the seat down. I can fit 2 80quart crawfish boiling pots back there And back in undergrad, I could fit my whole dorm room in it.

Thanks for all the replies.

The resale value is what is scaring me right now. I owe very little on the Z right now.

If I had my options, I would just buy a pos as a daily driver and park the Z, but I love having that power every morning. However, with all the suspension work in the car it is rough as a daily driver anymore over some rough roads. I know the GTO rides a lot better than the Z and a lot less rattles.

Keep them coming..

One other question, can I swap the Vig 3200 from the Z to the GTO or do they have different input shafts?

Your going to take a hit on any car that you get rid of with 5k on it. I say buy the GTO and dont look back, youll love it. I cant comment on the convertor, i dont know for sure.
