The interior in the 05 GTO is really nice the seats are amazing. I would have to go with the 05 GTO.

the GTO is a better car hands down, better interior and faster car.
i like the TA's and SS's but would not take one over a GTO. the folks at GM aren't stupid like the FORD people and say a car has a 5.0 motor and it really has a 4.6. that will get the government on you. I have the brochure and it states the 05 GTO will do 0-60 in 4.6 for the auto and 4.7 for the m6, the 1/4 the auto 13.0 @ 109 and the m6 13.1 @ 109. GM has never stated a TA will do those numbers. other magazines have quoted faster times, but those same magazines haven't track tested an 05 GTO GTO

Hey may be reffering to the old pushrod 5.0L 302C.I. motor from the Fox body days. It was actually a 4.9L (They rounded up from 4.9 something).

The 4.6L Modular engine was a different motor all together and the cars that had that engine had the numbers 4.6 on the side. Ford never lied about anything on that engine.

It was a good move on their part. It was a more powerfull engine with a smaller displacement. Which is a good thing. They even use a newer version of it on the 2005 Mustange which has 3 valves per cylinder and variable cam timing. (IE the same basic engine from the F-150 line that was introduced in 2004.)

you guys are missing the point, the point is that ford lied about the car and got caught. the gto has more power and is faster than a ta, regardless of what people say. the mustang was an example used not for actual numbers but just as a reference

Let me tell you something: The '05 GTO may have a higher hp rating than a 'Hawk, but a bone stock '05 M6 is NOT faster than an '02 M6 Firehawk!!! I know you just bought your Goat and you love it, but... c'mon.

I don't see where he referred to a Firehawk at all. The fact of the matter is that everybody is entitled to their own opinion as to what is the "best" car based on their own wants and needs, and nobody is wrong because it is all based on the individual. You can rip on the GTO all you want, and extoll the virtues of your Firehawk till your fingers fall off, that does not make me want a Firehawk more, or like my GTO any less, it just shows me that you are very happy with the choice you made, and I am happy for you.

You're right. He didn't say 'Hawk, but all f-bodies of the same year have the same engine, 'Hawks just have higher RATED hp. I should have said T/A. I really love ALL LS1 or LS2 cars, I'm still just mad at Bob Lutz for killing the f-body. I don't want to argue anymore. If I didn't have to pay for the Insurance & cars I already have, I'd be at the dealership NOW to get a GTO.

Almost every manufacturer rounds up the displacement when they refer to the engine in Liters. The Honda Accord 2.4L engine is 2354cc's, the 3.0 V6 is 2997 cc's. I don't remember Ford every saying that the engine was a 5.0, they always listed it by the actual cc measurment on their spec sheets. Only the car itself had the 5.0 badge which means nothing.

there was a very big stink about the fact that the ford guys lied about the mustang its a fact. and they got caught. your right companies round up. the for guys rounded up far too much that exceded the guidelines. and yes a hawk is on par with a gto, never said it wasn't, but a stock ta with equal drivers will get walked by a 05 gto

I agree with you it comes to personal choice but I owned a firehawk and I think my GTO feels much quicker but my hawk was an auto. I just didnt want the attention the hawk got you could spot it a mile away the goat you can suprise people. They are both nice vehicles the GTO is just much more refined.

me and the wife looked at the gto sometime around oct.the only thing that we agree with about this thread is it has extremely nice interior.BUT we hate the looks of it.it just looks like a grand prix!.we decided that we would look at a new mustang cobra when they comeout, since we cant afford a z06 (atleast until the 3 kids leave home).
so here are the winning results 1st place interior 04z06, 2nd gto.1st place exterior looks 04z06,2nd98-02ws6,3rd98-02camaross.performance 1st z06 ,2nd tie 01-02 f-body&05gto,3rd 04gto

What the **** are you talking about? Point out the year and example. you're talking from your ***. I know this is not a mustang site so this shouldn't bother me, but I've been around mustang's since the 4.6 was introduced, and ford never called is a 5.0. Seriously man, what the hell are you talking about?

Back the the matter at hand the '05 GTO has 50 more hp than an '02 z28, SS, t/a, ws6, formula, firehawk, and only weighs about 300 pounds more. The tranny has closer gearing so it is kept in the power band better between shifts. please tell me how it's not gonna be faster, please.

lutz didnt have anything to do with stopping fbody production.it was decided before he was employed at GM.

as far as a WS6 vs. GTO goes i have an SS and bought an 05 M6 GTO a few weeks ago.

theyre really very different cars.

a GTO though powerful is designed with comfort in mind where fbodies are geared towards performance.

i think my SS looks, brakes and handles better.its faster but my GTO is stock....for now.

i still think my GTO is a nice looking car.i get many stares and questions about it.i still think it has a very plain and civilized look to it which i like alot.

the GTO is a much better built car thats alot more comfortable and easier to live with as a daily driver.

theyre both great cars with comparable straight line accelleration imo.

Dude, buy a clue... I'd put my money on a '05 Goat against a '02 WS6 or 'Hawk
