'04 vs '05 GTO price wars
I'm looking to buy a GTO but was wondering is there really $4-6K difference in the '04 and '05. I was thinking of just buying an '04 and making the typical LS1 upgrades. Does anyone have any advise/oppinions/recommendations???

While they are out there, I have personally not been beaten by an 05. If I did the math, my car with mods (including TSP stage 2 Darts) comes right at what the 05s are selling for. The 05s are really nice and I haven't done anything to my brakes, but I just don't see GM putting them on firesale any time soon. My advice is, if you are keeping it stock, get the 05. If you are going to do serious mods (h/c), then to me a used 04 is a better bargain.

P.S. If you are going to drag race, go with an A4. I love my 6 speed, but an A4 is much easier on parts and with a converter, any moron can get good times with the auto.

Cost depends on the quality of what you get.
Brakes:1700
Exhaust: 800
LTs: 1100
CAI: 300
Heads: 2300
Cam: 450
HD pushrods: 115
90mm intake: 745
90mm throttle body: 385
Double roller timing set: 120
Oil pump: 125
various seal, gaskets and bolts: 300
....try 8K+ for my existing and very soon future mods. ...but a 05 won't touch me either.

Getting an 05 is like starting with a bigger canvas. There are many things about them better than the 2004's.
Plus, off the showroom floor they look better. Add in appearance and mods, I think the 2005 is a better place to start. They can already be had for 26-28K. They'll drop in another couple of months.
