GTO Questions (noobie to the LS2)
Okay, I have about $25k to spend on upgrades for a new GTO. I'm currently tracking down an Impulse blue 06 with an automatic transmission. But I have ALOT of questions. I want a street car that will also be strip friendly, but still driveable. Maybe a GTO that runs high 10's on drag radials, but I can still drive to Las Vegas on a weekend. Tired of trailered 98 Camaro SS you see in my sig pic.
What is the best head/cam package and from whom do I get it?
What size wheels can I fit on this thing? Talking Bogart Road Racing or Iforged wheels (high end and fat).
Can I get an upgraded stage 3 automatic transmission and a big converter from someplace like FLP?? (didnt show one listed on thier website!)
Whats better the Magna Charger or the Procharger?
Who makes a sold rearend for this car Moser/Strange/DTS??? Can't find one.
Any help would be appreciated. This will be my first LS2 car, and I really want to build something special, and stay in my $25k spending range.

With an auto the rear should stay intact pretty well. I'd really look at an STS turbo kit if i were you, they are proving to be very effective with the GTO's. Bogart makes drag wheels for the GTO. Difftechnics in Australia has a 9" IRS rear, but it is costly.

What about a Maggie supercharger? Affordable, 500 rwhp or more, and streetable?
I thought about this alot but I decided in the end to keep the gto stock and keep my camaro for the mods.

Then you will need to upgrade your drive shaft, clutch/tranny upgrad, 9" rear, plus upgraded CV shafts and axle stubs. Then some suspension work, and some DR's. You'll have a nice streetable 600RWHP car for less than $25k.

This is BrentB's car from LS1GTO.com and it will not disappoint. For the money, it can not be beat!

Thanks for the input, but I'm gonna finish my Camaro up with a 408 and a Procharger. I still plan on getting a GTO, and doing a few mods to it. Headers, exhaust, wheels and tires, but with the cost of the Camaro's new engine and blower, not gonna have the scratch for a 10 second goat.
That guys blue GTO is very NICE on ebay. Exactly what I was looking to do, except use a blower.

Im running a maggie and longtubes, and the rest stock. Car idles nice, runs nice is very docile and streetable. Runs like a raped ape when you get on it.
Think about your goals. Different goals have different solutions. I wanted a nicely mannerd car with more oomph than really can be used on the street, at all RPM's
I also didn't want to crack the engine open.
