I have a ls1 for an 04 gto and im swaping it into a S-10...

I live in vegas an we have strict emissions laws(like cali)
what i was wondering is if the 04 gto has an Air pump because my gto exhaust manifolds dont have a hole on them for o2 sensors or air pump like the f-body manifolds do... so i thought either they got rid of it for the gto's or the air pump and o2 sensors went into the exaust after the manifolds... any ideas?

Air pump.... are you talking about EGR???

If so, then no GM did away with that system in what... 02'? Computer takes care of it all not.... if thats what you're talking about.

midpipes for gto's have 4 o2 bungs, Im not aware of any other holes. Ill check my oem manifolds but Im sure they dont have any other holes than inlet flanges and outlet flanges.

Could you please double check... I have a paper from the dealer that says these motors do have an air pump system... This is all i need to be sure of before i complete my swap... A ref will fail me if i can not prove that they dont have the air system...

EGR? Wow I havent seen that on a car in a long time.

Nope, not all LS1's are built the same. The ref should know the difference between an LS1 from a 98 Z28 and an 04 GTO.

No the ref would not know the difference from the motor in a GTO or F-body... Infact they tell me i need to bring them a list of emissions devices for this motor... besides the actuall motor is exactly the same as f-body besides the 2 nipples are 1/4 inch off on the water pump... so no all the ls1's from 01 and up are exactly the same... No this motor does not have egr they got rid of that in 01... But as far as i thought they also got rid of the air pump in the 04 gto's... and the 05's use ls2 and they never had it...

If anyone is not sure what the air pump is... It's a device that pumps air(oxygen) into the exaust to burn off any fuel in the exaust system while its cold...

There is no air pump. Water pump changed mid year '04, among other small changes for the upcoming LS2.

I know your not telling me to go somewhere else... **** that... Maybe if you read the ******* post im trying to compare what i got from the ******* manufactor to what is really on the ******* GTO's... No one asked your sorry *** to waste your bad energy ******* up my ****...

Anyway i didnt end up finding an online manual from GM that says there is not an air pump... weird thing is this paper from pontiac says that the 04'corvette cts-v and gto all have the same emissions divices, all having an air pump...

God what a dick...

Sorry about that... but i have been escorted out of 3 dealerships here in vegas an im tired of people telling me to go somewhere else... even the pontiac representive i had working on my case... told me there's nothing she can do...

Just to fill everyone in... I have a "brand new" 04 gto ls1... it's an over production motor from GM because of the engine change they had in 05'... so my motor does not have a engine stamp in it...because it never went into a car... All i have proving this is an 04 gto ls1 in the reciept from the shop i bought it at... and the oil pan and manifolds that came on it.. So when i hook up an air pump weird stuff happens and i have problems... so i have to "prove" to the emissions lab that this is an 04 ls1 and not an 01-03 that all had air pumps... Everybody i talk to that is "suppost" to help me is telling me to go somewhere else... otherwise i would not have any of these problems...

Im sorry i blew up but im just sick and tired of hearing that... i hope you understand...

Here's proof. This is the actual file from my '04 GTO. Look where it says EGR and Air Pump...both disabled. Air pump is disabled below that temp.

i also have an 04 gto foing into my Rx7 and trying to make it CA smog leagal so something i also have been wondering myself. i dont belive it does. i got a diagram from my automotive school(all data and mitchel on demand). i forgot we can look up diagrams and parts so i bought an air pump for nothing . here is the emission diagram and parts list. the highlights are the smog parts (i didnt highlight all of them like o2s and pcm control). you might have to save it and blow it up.

Im going to take it to the dealership to have them copy it on a letter head and take that to the DMV... kick ***... Well i should be done with my swap here in a week or so... Check it out in my sig...
