I don't care if somebody has 100 hp over another car. If you cannot drive. You will lose. I was running 13.20's on street tire and 13.10 on a drag radial with just a intake. I ran a 05m6 with headers, full exhaust, drag radials, and drag bags. I had street tires, short throwshifter, and a intake. He pulled a fender out of the hole and I beat him by 1/2 at the end. So tell me because somebody has the horse can use it.

An 05/06 should take out an 04 but I have seen differently. Check the vid below of me (blk 04 right lane) running an 05 at the track.

http://video.ls1tech.com/video/f8ea3...03c6025775.htm

My car is close to stock and that's happened more than a few times both on and off the track.

You might be surprised sometime if you always write off an 04 as being slower than an 05/06 when their both near stock.
Wow, you schooled that guy!

see, me myself i had a different experience.

on a night @ Great Lakes Dragaway, the track was damn slick, and nobody could get traction however this is how it played.

my '05 GTO/M6, long tubes, cats, magnaflow mufflers, gutted stock air box, 160* SLP Stat

13.2@111

a stock '05 GTO/M6 - 13.5@106

a modded '04/M6 - shorties, full exhaust, CAI, stat, and some other mods, I don't remember what, but he definately had alot more done than I
13.4@104

I don't know what the fluke was, or why I was doing significantly better, to place things worse on my said, both drivers were prolly under 250lbs each, and I tipped the scales @ over 350lbs

The cars are not that far apart. I have an '04 with LTs and intake and raced an '05 with a shifter and a tune. The driver of the '05 can certainly drive, he is in the top ten of fastest stock times for the LS2s. We ran 40-140 and he litterally put about 6 inches on me and did not get that until around 120. If a close to stock LS2 car pulls next to me, he better have on his driving shoes because my little LS1 will give him a run for his money everytime.

My car has gone 13.03@106.6

dont get cocky caus you got the ls2.... yes im a lil jelous.... BUT seeing dyno numbers.... the ls2 on average STOCK only puts 30-35 more WHEEL horsepower.... and if he has full exhaust and a baby cam and STILL lost.... he cant drive....

I've beaten an 05/06 GTO on the track before I started modding but that was due to driver error.

The LS2 has more power in the exact same car so the 04 stock for stock will lose. '

That's why I saved my cash got an 04 and started modding

I have beaten stock 05-06's many times. My '04 has a Corsa catback, Creech tune and CF intake. Once they add anything or they are an equal driver they just pull away though. 50 HP and 18 cubic inches means alot.

"Only." You say that like the 30hp doesn't even matter.

If/when I get a GTO, I'm not even considering the LS1...I already have one of those.

I have a friend who has an 04, I was not impressed. I drove an 06 and was so impressed I bought one. My 06 leaves my friends 04 like it is tied to a post. I know emotion get involved when you start talking about your own car, however it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out: Same car + more CID + more HP + more Torque = a faster car

The question you need to ask yourself is what does "stock" mean. I know this may come as a shock to you but not everyone is honest when it comes to what modifications they have done to their vehicle. Back in the mid 80's I was into street racing, every time a race was even talked about both sides would start telling each other about how stock their own vehicle was and how they needed "cars" because the other vehicle was a "race" car. Both sides were always full of ****.

I used to hide everyting I could. I would run a stock dule snorkel aircleaner lid with a smaller diameter base and a k&n filter. The big aircleaner would hide whatever carb I was running. If I had a performer it was painted the same color as the engine and ground clean so I could say it was stock. I would run a stock "curved" dist, no msd or colored wires. I would run a comp 270, type cam, ported heads, 214/181 valves, ross pistons (11.1), big tube hookers (painted black) and full exhaust. 3000 stall, Low gear set in the trans and 4:10 gears with a 26" tall sticky tire. If you saw the car you would think it was stock. I would get "cars" from people who had a "race" car, beat them, but sandbag so I could get another race. If you asked me about the car I would say, "It's all stock" !

I can tell you this for sure, my 06 is dead stock and my friends 04 is also dead stock. everytime we race the 06 wins. Now if you want to start talking about mods the ls1 has been around longer and there is more available. The ls1 is a great engine, but the ls2 is just a little better.

I got my @$$ handed to me by a guy hiding a dual quad set-up under a Wildcat air cleaner. I was in my "stock" 375hp 472ci Coupe DeVille, and it turns out he was packing Stage I heads/cam too! I knew those big ole' exhaust manifolds looked out of place in that wagon.

My '04 story was against an '06 A4. I had him, but not by much. I'd have to say it IS a drivers race. I am BONE stock, and another stock GTO - any year - isn't gonna scare me.

This is funny.
Hey any stock, or catback only, ls1 GTO's in or around Austin who wants to run(dead stop or roll) on video to put an end to this let me know. I would be more than happy to prove a point.

Dmn, dude just went ***** on us, didn't he? I know I won't ever get in the 12's in stock form, so I'll just have to call you a better driver (edit: with a faster car). All I'm saying this: I have beat an '06 - because I out-drove him. That makes it a driver's race. Right? Just like I admit that you are a better driver than I, this guy knows that I am a better driver than he. Get it? Driver's race.

Do you need glasses? Not one of the LS1 gtos is quicker than any of the top 10 LS2s.

This looks like a driver's race to me (without my glasses of course).

edit: I say this because I'm positive that these guys didn't get these awsome times on their first run. I'm not arguing what car is faster (more hp = faster car - duh). But two tenths of a second difference is a crap shot. They are competetive. I'm done now - either you get what I'm saying, you won't for teh sake of arguement, or you're just too stupid to talk reason with. END
