Hood mount tach in 04 GTO

I would like to add a repro old style hood mount tach to an 04 GTO for the nostalgia look. The tach I have(from Year One) has a ground wire, 12volt switched power wire, and the tach signal wire. The signal wire is for an old style negative post coil attachment. I'd like to know how to get the proper signal for the tach trigger wire? Anyone done this before?
Thanks

I think it's definatly worth a try. Check out rksport.com as their old show GTO had a custom guage pod on the hood similar to the old goats. I am thinking about e-mailing them about it since it doesn't appear for sale on their website. Don't let the nay sayers get you down....If I find out anything else I'll post it here...

Its sounds like a decent idea as long as it is done correctly. the old GTO's look sick with the guages in the hood, maybe if you could cut the hole and form the guage pod there and make it seamless, color match it and it would be even better looking.

What year is the tach from? My 67 firebird has a factory hood tach. The ones from the 67 cars are a bit taller than the ones from the later years. And I think the 70 judge ram air 5 cars (very few made maybe 2?) Had shift lights in there hood tachs.
Interested to see how this turns out.

I have photos of the tach installed for those interested. Not sure how to share them on this forum. I have them on snapfish.com and can share them via email addresses of those interested.
