Default Just baught 05 GTO...has a "knock" in motor...

2005 GTO 38K miles.

In the morning it has a "knock" in the motor...pretty loud. After awhile it does goes away.

I am not new to vehicles...I know 6.0s, in trucks, can have a knock in the motor till they warm up but my wife has an 03 Escalade with 75K and it doesnt make any noise so I know it doesnt have to happen to all those motors.

I am a litttle worried on this GTO. Is there something I can do? Is this noise "normal"?

Any suggestion would be great and appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

Piston slap. Some do it, some don't. It sucks, but yeah...it's most likely normal.

If it was anything other than piston slap, it would get worse when it warms up. As has been mentioned, piston slap is very common in these engines, and it doesn't seem to every hurt anything. Bob
