I vote keep the Goat!

2001 Quicksilver Metallic/Black Z06, 53,000 miles

2006 Spice Red Metallic/Black GTO, 9,700 miles

Vettes are NICE but These facts should tell you to keep your Goat!!! +You have some nice shoes on her.

Also,if you purchased the Goat new, you know how you have treated her, you don't know how the vette was treated.

Keep the GTO. The zo6 isnt perfect, it hasnt been maintained correctly.
Out of warranty, clutch who knows what the past driver did or his kids, you never know. Keep the GTO.

Keep the GTO. It has low miles and is in way better condition. The Vette does sound like it has been abused. Dont get me wrong, they are both great cars and I love them both, but your car is the better of the 2. Also, just like where you live, there are only like 2 GTOs around here and a bunch of Vettes(some are Z06s and some arent)

if it were an 04 Z06 with 20k on the ODO and it were perfect and stock id say go for it, but then again the GTO is a nicer car to drive in every way cept for full throttle (stock for stock) i was considering a Z06 as well before buying the goat, but the build quality, ride, and extra set of seats lead me to the GTO. plus your car is my desktop at work, so you cant get rid of it...haha

keep the GTO. You car is hawt, and honestly it will prolly be worth more than the Z06 in a few years. I think these cars are really being hit hard with depreciation right now, but I think used prices will go up soon.

Your asking a GTO board whether you should ditch a GTO for a unknown
ZO6 with obvious flaws?

I want you to ditch that GTO and get the vette. Come back in a year from today and tell us if you made the right decision.

Doesn't sound like the Z was maintained to your picky standards. I'd be more interested in a 100% stock unmolested Z if a trade were to be considered. Modded and with a crappy stereo, along with body flaws might indicate a kid owned it.

The GTO is a much nicer car quality-wise than any C5. Whenever I'm in a C5 they feel like a deluxe version f-body. The C6 is a much nicer car than a C5.

I'd keep the GTO since you know its history and it actually looks nice.

I used those exact words when describing it to one of my buddies. I seriously think I'd rather just have an F-Body and a few more seats and a solid rear axle even though the C5 is a little sleeker and less weight. The C6 is an entirely different animal though obviously. I think I'd take a Z51 C6 over a C5 Z06 and probably do exactly what you did to your C6 with it (still wondering why you sold that one).

I sold the C6 because I was afraid of beating on it after the first $6,000 lesson of busting a rear diff housing. I never even took it back to the track after putting the DTE rearend in it. Nice car though, I'd buy another one later on. When those things start selling in the $20K range used, they will be awesome values for the buck.

Corvettes are just bad choices for making high hp, the rearends are too weak and expensive to replace.

Nine Ball you hit the nail on the head.... a C5 is a deluxe verison of a F-bomb. My friend has a C5 and it seriously feels like i'm in my WS6, but only 2 more inches lower to the ground. Your GTO looks a lot better, and from the sound of it you seem to like it a lot. Keep the GTO.

Actually the GTO IMO is too nice to daily drive. I dont want to put the miles and the wear and tear on it. The more I think about it a C5 Z06 would be a nice daily driver. Not an interior that I'd be worried about messing up too much, would be fun getting to and from work, and not something I'd have to add power to to really enjoy (like the GTO, it needs more power to really feel fast because of the weight).

The GTO is staying. It'll be paid off in a few years then it'll be time to upgrade the daily driver from my beater Neon. I think at that point the C5 Z06s will be even cheaper. I could pick one up, throw a cam and long tubes in it, have a 400rwhp street car that would be a blast to drive, and wouldn't have to worry about breaking parts. The other side of me says to get an 01 or 02 SS in a few years as a daily because its cheaper to get in to and if I ever did want to add bigger power I could add it and just put a 9" or 12 bolt in it. That'll be a decision I'll have to make in a few years so we'll see where I'm at then. A Quicksilver Z06 would be nice but I wouldn't worry so much about putting the wear and tear of daily driving on a nice Arctic White SS. Hmmm, we'll see. Either way one of the two of them will end up in the garage next to the GTO because I just love that car and it's going to stick around for a long while I do believe.

I would agree, keep the GTO. It's an all around great car, comfort, ride, power, etc. The Vette is also nice but it will get old after awhile mainly being somewhat impractical. Besides like others have said, you know the history of the goat. The ZO6's is a mystery.

just my $.02

Keep the GTO. You bought it new correct? If so you know whats been done to it and hows it been driven. Buy a used Zo6 with that many miles would be quite a risk to me. Who knows who's driven it and how hard. Plus you dont know how well its been taken care of.

Thats tough, I love your car, but a C5 ZO6 is the car I want. However, the condition ruins it for me aswell, if it was flawless or close to it then I'd trade it, but since it is a litte rough, I'd keep your car. Just chart the +'s and -'s of each, which ever has more +'s than -'s, do that one. I can't make a decision unless I do that.
