my friend has a torch red 04 gto, very nice comfortable ride, and moves out pretty well, as far as comparing to my Firebird, performance wise, it ends right there, its way to heavy, looks wise i mean anybody with a sense of style can judge that, someone posted earlier their stock a4 goat beat a 2000ss sorry but im calling bs unless it was due to driver mod, i mean interior on the goat is outstanding, love it, but from a performance standpoint the only benefit i see from a Goat is a warranty and a new car feeling, other than that its a waste of $20g's for an 04 and a waste of $25-$28 for a 05-06, but hey everyone has their taste, and this is just my opinion

Didn't all F bodys come with a kidney belt and a roll of duct tape for the interior.

Not sure where you're getting that one from...
I was thinking the same thing about your big longevity, interior, & paint comments.

Whatever the case, f body or gto, cater to two totally different crowds.

The only opinions that can be stated as facts in this thread are from those that own both a 4th-gen f-body and a 2006 GTO. I bought my 2002 SOM Z28 brand new on 9/11/01. I bought my 2006 GTO brand new on 8/4/06. For performance only, the Camaro is definitely the better car. For everything else, the GTO takes the cake. And remember, I own both. No bias here. Therefore, my opinion is a statement of fact.

Maybe compared to car's of the late 80's early 90's (minus GN) but hard to see it when you have "old" LS1 F-bodie's running and handling a lot better, Cobra's blowing their doors off, etc... Again this is a stock to stock comparison.

Anyone who has driven a GTO MUST admit they are large cars and are not nimble performance "sports" cars. You are pretty far forward so it doesn't feel so large but take a corner and you'll remember she's a boat...

Hell, Take off from a redlight and you'll remember she's a boat (and our car has Dynatech LT's, Borla Exhaust and K&N CAI, is tuned, etc... far from stock...)

You have got to be kidding me. Not 1 remark you made is accurate.
you call a gto a boat but the camaro is 4" longer and 2.5" wider than the gto. The reason the gto is a little heavier than a camaro is due to the independent suspension.
the gto has a 9.312 lb per hp ratio and the camaro has a 10.4 lb per hp ratio.
The gto does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and 13.0 in the 1/4 mile.
the camaro does 0-60 in 5.2 and 13.6 in the 1/4 mile.
As for handling its not even close. the gto will out handle the camaro any day of the week.

Wow, I must be wrong about the GTO not selling then as well...

Show me a stock GTO run the 1/4 in 13.0 and do 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and I will lick my own terd and take a picture...

Oh, and the Camaro running 13.6 in the 1/4??? I remember one running 12.9 when the LS1s first came out in the magazines...

You can't seriously believe those completely inaccurate bs numbers !

Oh, and my boat comments are references to driving feel. Longer, wider isn't as big an effect on center of gravity as lower stance and less weight "up high" as the GTO has.

Again, I love the wife's Goat but it doesn't perform as well out of the box as the 7 F-Bodies I've owned...

Put it this way:

Camaro = Poorman's Vette
GTO = Poorman's Caddy (LSx Caddy of course ! )

That's a good thing, don't know why this is an argument...

i think he is just mad a car so much heavier and nicer is as fast/well performing as his 7 beloved f-bodies causing a very cynical approach towards the goat.

From http://www.edmunds.com/pontiac/gto/review.html

"Equipped with the LS1 V8 rated for 350 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, 2004 models could get to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds and blaze through the quarter-mile in 14 seconds flat -- quicker than any of the original GTOs. More impressive are the 2005 and 2006 models, which have the LS2 V8 rated for 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, shaving over half a second off the quarter-mile time."

Even the LS2's were 13.5 stock... Seriously, quit pulling numbers out of your @ss to make a point that no one is dumb enough to believe

Ok, The chart i posted with ls2 stock times is totally made up. Your right, the f body is faster and better handling then the gto You lost all your credibility with me. I dont even believe you own a gto.

I have a A4 '05 goat and had a A4 '00 Trans Am. Stock for stock the GTO is faster. My TA never got sideways going into 2nd at 46mph. It could hardly chirp the tires. Take off from a light? Are you kidding? My stock TA could only dream of lighting the tires up like my GTO does. And it handles better. Overall it has better performance. Yes, I consider the owner of a 400hp car a member of the performance crowd.
