Default W2W 1993 Camaro Build

https://ls1tech.com/forums/sponsor-vehicle-projects-shop-tours/616447-w2w-1993-camaro-build-updated-4-25-08-a.html

I'm liking the car and been looking forward to updates. I'm particuarly interested in the rear suspension. You said it was going to be a 4 link car. I was envisioning something completely different. Can you explain how this watts link works, what is involved in installing it, and what the advantages of using a system like this are? I've never seen anything like this before and want to learn more about it.

It is now a 3 link rear suspension. The 4 link was changed because of the customers needs, drag and roadrace type track days. The 4 link would have bound up the rear end, not allowing body roll. That would be good when he was drag racing but when cornering the car would have wanted to go straight when he pushed it. This system allows body roll and will give him the best compromise so the car can have dual use.
The watts link just centers the car without deflection or side to side motion, even under severe lateral loads when your out on the track trying to be Boris Said! The center pivot is connected to the chassis and rides on bearings sitting vertical in the car. If the links are off you can spin this like a propeller, and it is very smooth on bearings. One link runs above the pivot centerline and one runs below, connecting to the rear axle on fabricated brackets. This is more roadrace type hardware, but we are bringing it to the street. The car will have a quick disconnect front sway bar as well as a quick disconnect rear anti roll bar. By connecting the front bar and adjusting the shocks, cornering will be good. Then unhook the front and connect the back, change shock settings and tires, and you are off to the dragstrip. This is what the customer wanted, a dual purpose car.

the level of work you guys put out is absolutely amazing,
the only thing i can think of though is that beating on one of your finished products would be like throwing darts at the mona lisa.........

Thanks for the good words. I do feel bad about driving hard in a new car thats clean/fresh paint, right up until I start it. Thats when my smile is connected to the gas pedal, and I like to smile!

Car is looking awesome Kurt....A little bit different than the original plan, but awesome for sure! I bet Jeff is excited to see it coming together. So will he pick it up? Or is it going to spend the winter there and get the new engine and F1?

Whitey just finished hooking the LT1 to the mufflers, so I think that powertrain is staying in for awhile! The car looks evil sitting on the ground, you would approve I'm sure!!

The car is a ongoing project and would be far from a "budget build", but I don't have numbers as it was done in stages.

just to do the quarters is about 8000 and that doesnt include the tub work and tin work in the back. it takes about 100 hours according to the body shop manager over there.
