Default Tire recommendations for autocross and street.

Wondering what you guys would recommend to run on the street and autocross. I need a 275/40R17. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Pilot PS2's if you can afford them, if not people have good luck with Kumho mx's. You won't be the fastest guy at an auto-x but you can still have a bunch of fun with them.

The big tire chains have them up on their web sites for 159.00 in the 275/40/17 size.

I'm in the same spot but will be running on the street and road coarse. I am leaning towards the Falken 615. I'm keeping an eye on the NT05 also. Then the 555RII is running third. I'm still debating. I would consider the PS2 if they were not so expensive.

i have the 615s for track use, albiet a very short track. theyre ok, but they dont hold up well with our heavy cars. for little jap garbage like miatas, theyre great. but get greasy under a real cars weight. that being said, with the weight, they do tend to wear pretty quickly. i have about 5-6 track days and 1 autox on my 615s, rotated each event, and they are just about down to the wear bars already.

but, for the price of them, theyre the best bang for the buck.

I put a set of Hankook K104's on my car ~2 years ago, and they've worked pretty well for me thus far. I daily-drive the car on them, but I've also used them at the track, and they stick not too bad ... and yet they still have life in them . They were also less than half the price of the BFG KD's that I priced (which I believe are similar in price to PS2's?). Just something to consider.

Anyone used Yokohama S.drives? I'm debating between the S.drives, Nitto 555s, or the Falken 615s. The car is going to see more street use than autox/road racing. I was considering the MXs, but I wouldn't have them in time for when I need them. Or I should say it would be close. Discount tire is saying 10-14 days and that puts me extremely close to April 17th since they probably won't actually ship until Monday.

Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star spec. If you look them up you will be impressed and I have yet to hear of anyone being disappointed with these tires.

I'd second the Bridgestones if you mean RE-01's. The Falkens were very good back in their day (2 years ago), but they've been surpassed.

Agreed, i myself am running the faulken 615's and i think they're a great tire if your looking for something to drive on the street as well, or just to stay in a street tire class

Good luck finding them in a usable F-Body size. nothing in 245 16, nothing in 275 17.

If I decide to run slicks for road racing...

what would you recommend, and would it be alright on 245?

I also have sawblades that I plan on using that use 275s, but I still wanna know if there is a good slick for 245s? and what would it be?? Also, if not a slick, even a competition use street/track tire (besides the Nt01)

Toyo R888

i love my NT01s. If you're going to do any track events, i'd stay away from the 615s, iirc they get greasy and slippery when hot.

my friend just put Star Specs on his STi, He hasn't gone to the track yet with em, but doing some canyon stuff he said they grip amazing
