Default Got some questions

Well I finally hit my goal of getting into the 12s tonight, so now I'm going to start concentrating on autocrossing. I've ran about 5 events on street tires over the last 3 years or so.

I'll be running in FS for now. I have an extra set of 16x8 camaro wheels. What tires should I get? I was thinking the Kumho tires...but I don't remember which ones were better. I also figure I'll get a 5 pt. harness and a front sway bar to be fairly competitive and save for some shocks. I'll have to take off my lid and STB to run FS, but that's no biggie.

Anything else I should add to my initial list of tires, harnes, and sway bar?

Check this link

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...ce=C&x=28&y=13

Tirerack has a lot of good information on competition tires, even offers to heat cycle them for you.

I'm sure Discount offers the same:

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...pe=Competition

And they are both sponsors here as well!

I cant agree more. they will damage your wallet but are well worth the investment. they are next on my list of "goodies". I prefer the DA's over the SA's just for more adjustablity but they come with more of a price tag.

If you get the koni's, throw on some good rubber and a big front sway bar. I am currently using the 35mm with the stock rear. It works quite well together.

How is the durability of the Koni's on a daily driver? I'd think pretty good since they come on the 1LE cars.

A friend told me that a shifter knocks me out of stock class, is this true? If so I'm not going to worry about running in one particular class, and just try to gain some experience.

After 20,000 street/autocross miles, my Koni DA's work great.

The shifter will knock you out of F-stock (unless there was a rule change that I've not seen yet).

Have fun!

FYI, looking at your sig, there are a bunch of things that technically keep you out of FS. the FRA, ported TB, MAF screen, and shifter all all mods that would bump you to ESP. The car can be competitive there too, and it's up to you if you want to try and run FS like that. I frankly wouldn't care much @ local event, but you might want to mention that to the other guys before they think you're up to something......

As for setting the car up for FS. Easy. 35mm front bar, shocks, wheels and tires.

yeah, I was planning to return the car to stock to run FS, but I can't live with the stock shifter, so I guess I'll run ESP or SM. I'm thinking of getting some sub frame connectors.

You can legally run the OE Hurst. SFC's will keep you out of ESP, and that's where the car is most competitive other than FS.

I didn't get the OE Hurst either, I planned on an aftermarket shifter before I bought the car. Probably run ESP for now though.

Thanks

I went with Koni SA/Bilstine HD combo. I love. Kinda $$ but well worth it IMO.
