Default Road racing with stock oil pan?

The car is a mustang but it does have a ls1 with a F body pan. Ive seen and heard of people with F bodies spinning bearings etc due to lack of lubrication at the track? I am trying to avoid going with a dry sump for the time being because I am in the middle of building the car and that would be a slight setback but I dont want to go out there and blow my motor the first time out. Just looking to see what some of you guys with F bodies who are road racing them are doing?

I was checking that out I already paid 250 for my oil pan so I will be in 450 I wish canton made a F body road race pan.


+ they are out of stock on those I guess I could email them and see when they will be getting more

use a baffle or overfill by a quart while youre at the track

What exactly are you running on your car?


and can any one give me any first hand input on an acusump.

the improved racing baffle. i posted a second after yours. the baffle is the cheapest. not easy to do, as you have to either drop the k-member or jack the motor to get at the pan. if the motor is ever out of the car, then obviously its the best time to do it.

there are other threads in this section that have accusump info. also check out frrax.com for more specific road race info.

until then, overfill by a quart (itll be 7 qts). keep checking the level throughout the day, add when needed.

I've got ~80k on my LS1, and only started getting into road racing it with around ~60k on the clock. I've beat the snot out of the motor on the track, repetitive high RPM's and with the suspension mods and sticky tires on the car, have put very high cornering loads on it, and thus far, the motor seems to be surviving fine by simply keeping the level between ~1/2 - 1qt over full . I haven't even run synthetic through it religiously either ... normally just a good quality "dino" oil .

I emailed them they will have the revised baffle in stock in 3 weeks.

Nope. I'll drive it hard 'til it blows . But thus far, it's always run strong, oil pressure has been good, and it doesn't burn an excess amount between oil changes.

I wouldn't expect the motor to last "forever" being run like that, but what "race" motor does run forever?!
