Default Speed World Challenge WS6

So I was watching an old Speed world challenge video on youtube. i happened to notice that a WS6 was running in the GT class. just wondering if any of you guys can chime in on some of the specs that car had, or similar f-body cars in swc. is that car still SRA or IRS, HP rating, suspension setups, tire, etc.
thanks.

Older world challenge isn't anything like it is today. Then it was a very affordable series to run. SCCA Touring 1 class cars (C5Zs, C6s, Viper..) could run with SWC and the top T1 drivers could get a mid-pack finish. This was SWC's glory days.

I'm not familiar with this WS6, but it probably fit into this category:

17x9 wheels w/275/40/17s (or 16x10 and 16x11)
stock gears
3280lbs
35 front/32 rear swaybar

There was another SCCA Formula WS6 that was for sale last year. Black and yellow, had a Motec system and a few other cool gadgets.

perhaps that was the one. it may not have been swc, but was something competitive enough for speed channel(speedvision) to cover it.

Touring 1 would be my guess.

Joe Aquilante (owns Phoenix Performance), ran a T1 Firebird that was black/yellow and both he and John Heinricy drove it. The car was raced as #32 and #33 at some point

That's the one I was talking about for sure. Took them awhile to sell it, but what a cool setup.

GoneB4U on this forum had it, here's his Fquick garage: LINK

the Motec was not legal for the racing venues the car saw from the links I posted, however in those years there was a lot of shady practices. A Viper guy running a pro level traction control system (that wasn't even legal for ALMS or Grand Am), maybe this car running a Motec, and lots of other little things like milled heads. But that's racing, in a sad way it's still true that "if you're not cheating you're not trying hard enough".

To the OP: It's quite possible you did see a video of the car in a SWC race. In those years, a well prepped T1 car who was a top T1 contender could race with SWC in GT and compete mid-pack. This is coming back however, SWC just approved a new GTS class where we (T1 racers, and a lot of others) can compete at a "Pro" level.

I know a guy that raced in WC for 10 years and was in that race (Farmer), I'll ask him and see if he knows for sure who's car it was (at the time..) and who was driving

Yup, Heinricy drove it, and it was a Phoenix Performance car built as a Motorolla Cup Car (prior to becoming known as Grand Am/Koni)
