Try autocross first... www.dfwautocross.com should give you all the local happenings... I was down there a week ago for an event. Should be more local but 50miles is NOTHING to drive to a road course.

Within 50 miles? I don't understand the fear of driving a couple hours to have a great time in a car.

There is Eagle's Canyon near Decatur and Motorsports Ranch in Cresson. Check out thedriversedge.net or apexdrivingacademy.com

Then there is Texas Motorspeedway and they have a DE group which uses the infield road course. You can find them at texasdrivingexperience.com

Yeah, Motorsports Ranch and Eagle's Canyon are both a little over an hour drive from here. And signing up for an HPDE is the way to start. Catch me at a GTG or something and I'll tell you all about it.

Me Too!
I am also interested in some road racing with my GTO, but I'm not to crazy about autocross.
I travel from the Fort Hood area between Waco and Austin.
Surely there are events I can attend where I don't need to join a track for $1,000.00 plus per year.
I welcome your ideas.

Camaro/Mustang Challenge and American Iron series will be racing at Cresson, SW of Ft. Worth, on March 13 and 14.

NASA-Tx has a DE program as well. All you need is a car and a helmet. Not sure of the cost of a DE program.

Texas World Speedway in College Station would be close. They have HPDEs also. I will be down there with The Driver's Edge next month.
