Default Sway Bars

I have a thread in the Suspension section but this would be a good place for it too..

I'm looking into getting solid Sway Bars, UMI sells a nice Kit.

Here is the question..

Would it be better to upgrade the front only to a solid one..

http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=290

Or is it better to get both front and rear solid..

http://www.umiperformance.com/catalo...roducts_id=292

The car already has a STB, Eibach Pro Kit, and Bilstein Shocks.
Thanks.

It depends what you are trying to achieve, also what kind of bars do you have on it now? Stocks?

There is a few things need to consider, but more info would likely help.

I'm trying to get it to handle really good. The stock LT1 V8 ones are on it to my knowledge.

I've got people telling me to get both, and I have some people that know my car and they are telling me to get the front, the back will make it too stiff and it will slide around too much.

"really good" is subjective and it means different things to different people in different applications.

Off the top of my head I don't recall what the stock rear bar is on an LT1 car.

I believe it could be a 19mm or 21mm.

The thing about the rear bar it's almost personal choice and driving style. I believe it also depends on what front bar you choose, there is a reason people setup cars differently for different applications.

Auto X setups - seem to gravitate towards the 35mm / 22mm bar setups.
RR - I'm not too sure i believe 32mm/21mm? guys correct me here.
Street I've seen just about everything under the sun.

I would recommend do the front first, try it out and then if you feel rear is a little loose go up to the 22mm.

Personally I run a hotchkis 36.5mm hollow and a 21mm 1LE solid, rear feels a little loose sometimes, but I've gotten used to it and it seems to be working out so far.

I'm not Auto X'n it..I like to drive on the backroads and enjoy the car in the curves..I'm not hauling *** into them..but I like it to be able to handle its way through a curve very well and solid.

Another thing to keep in mine too is that I have about 85lbs more on the nose with the Ironblock..that will make a difference compared to a LS1 Car.

I think I'm going to start with the Solid front one and see how it does.

I would recommend the Strano hollow bar set. They are lighter weight and result in a balanced car.

suggested option 1.

suggested option 2. (adjustable rear, if you drag race you may want to set the rear to the stiffest setting for better launches)

I suggest giving Sam Strano a call and discussing exactly what you want your car to do for you.

I'll figure it out when I get back from Iraq..I'm leaning toward making the front one Solid at the moment and seeing how it does.
