probably the same thing drifting was doing at Road atlanta, Willow Springs Raceway, Sears Point/infineon raceway, and i cant think of how many other places. being seen and a lot of people enjoying it even though their closed minded ASSumption was that drifting was a gay ricer fad.

and trying to up your post count it seems. what was it? 6 in a row that basicly amounted to: stickers=sponsors=good, and drifting is not racing.

too bad Americans were powersliding around corners before anyone in japan did. Heck look at it. back in the 60's and 70's anything out of Japan probably didnt even have 100 horsepower. at the height of the muscle car era cars were pushing 450+ from the factory. Now thats plenty to spin some stock 245's. It just bugs me how they say japn invented it. They only made it into a 'sport'. I slide around corners daily. whoopdedo

Uh, try the 40s ...
My dad drove dirt sprint cars in the late 40s and well into the 50s.

wow i didnt know youd win a sprint car race by holding more angle than your opponent and following him on his door sliding further into the turn than him and further out, i thought the fastest car won a RACE. guess i was wrong, so spring car racing is a judged competition of style on pavement and has been that wasy since the last 40's and 50's?

:confused

i think his point was tht they thought "hey lets do that and make it look cool." dont knw bout you but sprint cars get pritty damn close to eachother going around corners. jus because the end is the same doesnt mean they both didnt come from the same place.

Not to worry ...

If you go back and read the drama that Mike has brought to the site, you will note ...

I know these "bubbas" ...
He is totally immersed in this "sport" ...
Will go to great lengths attempting to recruit the nay-sayers ...
Uses harsh language and insults as a recruiting tool ...
Is very persistent ...

I will surmize that he received poor marks in grade school in "Deportment" ...

All in good fun, Mike.
I'm sure this will start a whole new round of inflammatory verbal grenades hurled my way. That's OK ... it's a brand new year and we need to get it started off right ...

wow i didnt know the object of drifting (sliding street cars around at 80+mph, white smoking the tires getting as sideways as possible and as close to walls/otehr cars as possible) was such a style biter of dirt track racing, i mean we totally run staggered tires, single speed gearboxes and obviously we do it on pavement instead of dirt because they are so similar. and it looks soo cool to see a sprint car driver following close instead of passing, because we know that is 100% the point of sprint car racing.

dont knw bout you but sprint cars get pritty damn close to eachother going around corners.
i thougth the piont was to pass and leave your opponents behind because its RACING on dirt, where traction IS limited so the fastest way around is having high slip angles with the car setups?

jus because the end is the same doesnt mean they both didnt come from the same place.
wow i didnt know they had sprint cars and dirt tracks in japan, what a bunch of style biters.

get a clue dude, seriously.

and michntx. as usual, a response with no fact/tech, just jargon. yes ive called you an idiot because you are one. thanks for playing.

Now how can you claim I bring no "tech". I challenge you to dispute any of those claims ...

show me in your post anything based off of facts relating to drifting in comparison to sprint car racing and your claim that drifting is a direct rip off of sprint car racing, to which i replied, how so, to which you replied with what you have to back it up, nothing.

seroiusly, logic no comprehende?.

seriously, winged racecars racing around a dirt oval in comparison to street cars sliding around a parking lot in a judged car control competition on pavement, oh my the similarities

both motorsports involve a car sideways at one point with 4 wheels on it, a motor, and safety equipment, sponsors, and numbers. thats where it ends.

Are all drifter's like you?
It's an interesting study in human nature ...

You are correct. Sprint car racing is RACING ... drifting is a judged and choreographed DANCE.

Which of the 2 is most at home in the section entitled "Road Racing"? At least sprint cars are actually racing ...

Next?

dance?

wow.

did i start this thread? where is it suppost to go? oh wait, YOU dont want it here. forgot about that. but since Ls1 powered cars won the US drift series in america, and sprint cars dont use ls1's, id say this is a tad more relevant.

Dancing? Nah.

Drifting is to motorsports what Ice Skating is to winter sports.

Mike, I actually watched part of the Drifting Nationals (or whatever they called them) on SPEED Saturday morning and saw all the top drivers.

What was up with the "top driver" wearing green mouse ears and moon walking on the front straight during driver introductions?

And you want this "sport" to be taken seriously?

No you didn't give birth to this thread, but you are certainly defending it like the father ...
