I didn't realize they don't have a one day option for HPDE 1, sorry about that. I understand the logic but it really forces people to budget big for their earlier events.

The One Day option is called HYPERDRIVE - but its not really the same.
HYPERDRIVE is a cheap, quick alternative to HPDE1 - it's only $75, but you only get 1 session with an instructor.
I'm pretty sure HPDE1 is a 2-day event @ Sebring...Hyperdrive is good cost alternative...HPDE1 is around $450, plus all the added costs.
I'm trying to get my stuff together for the Event in Sebring next month...don't know if that's gonna happen.

Tech was a joke when I ran HPDE at road atlanta. I spent months on prepAring my car and when I went to tech all they did was check all my lug nuts and said I was good to go. I guess Sebring is different though.

I am seriously considering them for a next set. I know a guy that runs them on a miata, but that's a whole different animal. They aren't too pricey either. I like the fact that I could drive to the track on them, race, and then drive home.

I've been running r-compounds on the track for quite a while now but I still drive to the autocross events so I run a street tire class on some Kumho XS 275/40-17's. The SCCA was running a PDX not too long ago on the little 1.2 mile club course in the infield at Daytona. I decided just to drive the car over and run on the Kumho's. They're about 2 1/2 years old at this point with quite a few autocross runs on them so they are falling off and almost to the wear bars. They still did pretty well with some slipping and sliding but it was a lot of fun. Here's some video and you can see me pretty much passing everything so they can't be that bad.
