LC9 powered RX-7 Project build thread.
To start off I don't know if this belongs here or if it's even welcomed since it a foreign car. But here goes nothing
Well, how do I start?
I reside in the mile high area, Longmont to be precise. Let's just say I have an unofficial PHD in rotary engines and while I highly regard them as a wonderful piece of machinery I must face the fact that they're getting old and parts are pricey and not usually reusable.
I am focusing my attn. in my 1989 Mazda RX-7 that previously had a Series 5 N/A 13B engine in it. I have owned over 8 of these cars and wrecked my dream car a Series 5 Turbo II in mint shape.
This is the engine I will will be swapping in with any luck I will have it in my home Sunday. LC9 5.3 Aluminum engine.
Hopefully it will look something like this
A proper introduction also requires some of my other cars and projects.
My bike, 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 650R brought back from the dead
My dream car, now sold 1989 Mazda RX-7 turbo II, rare options 60,000 miles
My wrecked restoration, one month after completion
1991 VW bug, dual port engine, front disc conversion
The car that started the downward spiral
1986 Mazda RX-7 base model, straight piped, fast and smokey
The car built for the laughs
1988 Toyota Corolla DX base 4 door, automatic. Slower than decaying wood.
The abandoned project, rust bucket
1972 Datsun 240Z (Sorry, I couldn't find a picture without me)
And the daily driver, occasional auto-x, rally-x, engine hauler, parts carrier
1988 Honda Civic DX w/ D16A6 swap and DPFI conversion, Koni yellows and skunk 2 coilovers, 1st gen CRX si wheels, curt tow hitch, Integra seats, Subaru cassete deck and OEM exhaust (worth mentioning) Not a gram of rice, so I don't need to hear it
My taste of chevy
1972 Monte Carlo, the mouse trap and tetanus on wheels
And to top it off the car that will house a LSX engine soon, to your right a 1989 Mazda RX-7 GTU (Base Model)

Thanks guys, I am always leery on joining new forums for fear of being flamed. I have a passion for the Turbo rotary engine but even I have to agree that LSX engine just seems so dam tempting for the $/power.
I will be documenting my journey with the swap in the RX7. I got a good? deal on the engine so we'll see how it turns out when I pick it up hopefully the weather will be fair.

I'm interesting in following this. I sold my FD back in August. I just couldn't bring myself to modify it enough to make it track worthy and wanted it to go to a good home before I lost my mind. It was a '94, 5-speed manual, white on black... 34k miles. All original when I bought it. I think I made a mistake.
Good luck!
