Lets Talk Brakes....

....John
Brakes: Custom 13"(just like the Baer track kit)
Pads:Hawk blue
Rotors: 2 piece Baer
Lines: Earls SS
Fluid: motul 600
ABS: none
These brakes work great around town, and autoXing. they are OK for road racing, but they don't quite cut it. I would like some ALcons, but it looks like Wilwood 6 piston setup may be the best bang for the buck in brakes right now..
One big PLUS with my brakes is they fit under my 16" autoX rims.. no way will an alcon/wilwood 4/6 piston caliper fit under 16" rims!
Brakes: Porsche GT2/GT3 brake systems adapted by MOVIT
Pads: Porsche Motorsport Yellows by Pagid
Rotors: Non floating curved vane cross drilled 330X34mm front 322X28mm rear
Lines: Fischer Hydraulik
Fluid: ATE SUPER BLUE
ABS: Factory
Parkbrake: Made by Lamborghini adapted by Movit
Comments

We are currently in the process of seeing what wheels will fit. I know that an Enkei Win and a Forgeline Will fit. Any 18" rim will have no trouble. As far as the SS/WS6 rims, Ill get back to you on that.

Just bringing this one to the top.......still looking for info on this set up.......Thanks, Gary

I have seen your brakes go away just days before this thread was started For the record I beleive it was fluid boil, which a bleed with good fluid fixed.

Since I still like to drive the car for the purpose it was designed, spirited driving, I've run 2.5 seasons at open track days here in the Mid-Atlantic area. Summit Point & V.I.R.
I've always beded & seasoned new pads & rotors
The first two sessions where on the stock pads and rotors. Felt the fade at the end of the 3000' straight at Summit and adjusted my driving technique accordingly.
Starting 3/2000 I visited VIR and fell in love with the track. I had already upgraded to the GMPP front rotors and DuraStops on all four corners. Great improvement. Driving technique also improved. Street performance also noticed, wet & dry. The rotors lasted all season. (about 6 track sessions)
The 2001 season I started using Hoosier 'R' compound tires with Hawk 'black' pads, the same rotors from last season and Earl's SS braided brake lines. These pads were used at the track only, with Durastops going back in for street use.
The SS saw it's last 'official' track day Nov,2001. With the SS showing 48K miles on the odo, I'm setting up an '87 T/A to pick up the track duties as well as the drive to work and back. I'll probably look for a 1LE setup for the front of the T/A, as it already has the PBR setup in the rear, with the 12" rotors.
Here's our HOSS.
