Lets Talk Brakes....
I guess I'd like to know what kits are out there that will work with stock rims in 16" and 17" varieties.
If the kits won't work with a stock configuraion, what does it take to make it work.
Lou had advertised about a Wilwood kit for f-Bods that seems rather affordable. How will they work with the stock rims? Do you guys need a test car?

Also, I heard rumors about a kit to adapt C5 rotors to an F-Body. Have you heard anything?
I guess for the budget minded racer that I am, I have to find a kit that will be more lucrative than just buying a set of rotors every weekend I race (3 ro 4 times a year)

Many 'vette owners (including myself) are warping C5 stock rotors pretty easily. I'd imagine it would only get worse using them on a heavier car.

Racing or street applications?
Which pads?

BTW, my calipers & rotors are stock with PFC90 pads and HD Ford racing break fluid.
Will the new Willwood kit or the kit to adapt C5 brakes work on a LT1, or should I first do the LS1 upgrade then worry about a better setup?
Oh yeah Louis, this is James if you didn't figure that out since I am the only one with a LT1.

The stock LT1 brakes are horrible. I had a 94Z that I road raced alot. Swapped over to the LS1 f-body brake for around 250 complete. Best mod out there. Like night and day. Once you start driving the **** out of the LT1 brakes they will fade like a bitch. They were a direct swap. You will need the steering knuckles, caliper assembly and hoses. I would also go with differnt rotors than stock.
This is what happens to a rotor that was either a)heated up too quickly(heat shock.....rotor becomes like glass, or B) bad manufacturing process/materials.

I am leaning torwards the latter, because 3 of our members had the EXACT same problem on three DIFFERENT cars. the one car with PowerSlots had no problem at all. just Some food for thought. They were KVR blanks in case you were curious.

100%factory bone stock. This is happening on the street. I warped the ones on my '98 in 12,000 miles with no track use. Many others have done the same
Just my opinion, but I wouldn't put stock C5 rotors on an f-body, even if they were free.

btw, I run AP600 fluid.

They work very nice on the street, but I want to get my ducting finished before I go back to Road Atlanta...
Car: 98 camaro
Brakes: Brembo 4pot 13" kit from LGM
Pads:Hawk 9012
Rotors: Standard Brembo Floating discs
Lines: Goodridge
Fluid: Castrol SRF
ABS: Factory
Other: heavy car, 3600#s with me in it, 80K miles on 1 set of rotors. Good pedal feel, always there.....no pumping at all. pad is aggressive with no torque at low temperatures, dusty but there is always a compromise, ill take good brakes and dust over fair brakes and less dust any day. no problem with cracking discs, or boiled fluid. Good Modulation.
lets get this rolling, I would like to take all of this information and create a database for all of us to use here! Thanks in advance
Pads are around $200/axle and I'm currently needing to replace the rotors..losta' street miles on these.
Does 'Wilwood' have a Cal. & Rotors to upgrade
my 2001-SLP-SS?? The other companies listed on
several [reply's] are super..but very expensive.
I was hoping someone has info. on 'Wilwood', I
think they me more cost effective for me. (I plan
on using the car on the track 2 times a year, but
NOT competitively)
Thanks,
