Default FINALLY ... cost effective big F-Body brakes ... thanks LG Motorsports!

Lou and Louis Gigliotti of LG Motorsports (www.lgmotorsports.com) have come up with a cost effective replacement rotor package for the fronts of our F-Bodys.

<img src="http://www.southernls1.com/LGBrakes/LGBrakes1sm.jpg" alt="" />

There are 2 great advantages of this system. It uses the stock 2 piston monoblock caliper, it's a direct bolt on with the adaptor bracket and everything clears OEM 17" rims (F-body and Y-Body)without the need for spacers or grinding the caliper.

The rotors are almost 13" in diameter and 1.25" thick. The holes are cast in, as opposed to drilled, which can cause hot spots and potential cracking.

The ones shown are zinc washed, cross drilled and slotted.

The larger rotor gives you a distinct leverage advantage over OEM or OEM replacements with the added 1" diameter of rotor mass.

I will be punishing these brakes with Hawk Blues April 20 and 21 on a local road course. I am anxiously awaiting to see how they perform under extreme conditions.

Right now, they are working fantastic on the street with OEM pads.

I'll default to Lou about cost and availabilty, but get in line. This is gonna be a HOT set-up.

=====================
From Lou:

By definition swept area is the amount of pad contact multiplied by the by the square inches of rotor contact in one revolution of the rotor. So the pad "sweeps" over a larger amount of rotor surface per each rotor revolution .

This kit increases the "swept Area" of braking for your Fbody.

I hope I am making my self clear. You can also increase the swept area by increasing the pad size, because the pad size is part of the equation.

In addition the distance out from the hub centerline increases the amount of "Leverage" that the caliper can exert to stop the wheel rotation. On our race car, some sanctioning bodies allow increased rotor diameter. We move our caliper out to match the new rotors, and you would not believe the difference.

So the coeficient of friction times the pad surfce, times the distance out from the hub centerline determines the braking power.

The rotor "Mass" determines how long it lasts. ( this is a very basic explaination)

Availability:
We are waiting for Mitch to "Beat them up" on the track before we release them. We will be getting the pricing together within 2 weeks. We can probably deliver them with in 3 to 4 weeks.

I am sure that you will be impressed.

Thanks,

Lou Gigliotti

================

I don't typically drive the car in the rain, but I wanted to see how the brakes worked in the wet.

Holy cow! They freaking stop! But it feels like stock, just quicker stops.

One of the things I hoped this brake upgrade would accomplish was help with teh incredibly BAD brake bias the computer uses. On AX courses, I can wheel hop the *** end bad on hard braking.

I've done a couple of "spirited" stops, actually getting into the ABS and NO WHEEL HOP! So the added front braking forces has reduced rear bias ... I hope that's right.

2 weeks till I PUNISH them at Motorsports Ranch.

I'm guessing their weight is higher than stock rotors?

Can't wait to getmore inf.
