Default What is a good size area needed for an auto x?

I was looking into trying to find a place closer to where I live to auto x. I have to drive over 2 hours to auto x and it sux. I was thinking at least 300,000 square feet would probably pretty good. What do you guys think?

I've seen autox in a 300 x 200 ft area. That's only 60,000 sq ft. Of course that's just for the course. You could put a 1/4 mile drag strip with full shutdown area in 300,000 sq ft.

Check with any smaller local airports. We race at a small ariport 2 times a year. They have 2 runways, they let us race on one, while they keep the other open to planes (Cesna's and other small ones).

The only problem is that if the wind shifts too much, the will kick us off of the runway.

Is this for SCCA use, or another car club event. Arroun here, places are pretty open to SCCA use. As soon as they here the word INSURANCE, they get frendly. I am on the Saganaw Valley Region (MI) SCCA Solo Board.

Hope this helps,

Roger
