WHY NOT POLY??
I am into road racing and auto-x. My question is; with all of the suspension parts i will be buying why do i not want poly bushings? If NOT poly then what DO i get? My suspension will be mostly BMR. Thnx. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
For road racing, your suspension will be moving all around, compesssing unevenly on the left & right sides as you corner.
The Poly bushings do not have as much compliance as the stock rubber ones & will put additional loads on all of the mounting points as the arms try to twist as you are cornering.
I, for one, do not want to be in the middle of a corner when a stressed mount bracket gives away !
I've been through a couple of different arms & I would STRONGLY recommend the arms & panhard from Slot Car Racing ( www.slotcarracing.com ). They are made of aluminum & are substantially lighter than the BMRs or any of the others. Additionally, they use teflon lined super high quality rod ends. These ends will not rattle like the other brands.
Poly is OK on the torque arm. I am just using the Poly torque arm mount on the stock arm, for now. And, a poly trans mount. It would be good to move the torque arm mount off of the trans (get the load off of the trans mount) and onto the crossmember. SCR is working on a billet torque arm that has a whole crossmember mount....big $$ though.
Good luck with yer car....

I switched from poly/poly BMR to Poly/rod G2 LCAs and got a G2 torque arm.
