Default BMR weld-in relocation brackets install problem

First off the car is lowered with Eibach Pro's.

I don't drag race, only open track RR events.
I don't have any wheel hop issues with my current set up.

The reason I bought the rel. brackets is to hook up better off of slow turns on road courses.

So, I get the car up on stands, take of the brake line supports, drop control arm from rear, and prep the area for welding.

I checked fit the LCA rel. brackets. The instruction say to weld on both sides and back of bracket. Well the back of the BMR bracket does not set flush with the OE LCA bracket. It would have to be gap welded. I wish I had pictures.

If you bolt the BMR brackets to the stock piece and position as it says in the instructions, the rear axle will have to be moved FORWARD to bolt up the LCA's to the BMR brackets.

I put the car back together and decided not to weld the brackets in until I find out more info.

I did some research and it seems several people are having this problem. Some fix it by installing adjustable LCA's.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Also can someone explain how rel. brackets correct pinion angle problem on lowered cars? or can they?

From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong Lou...)

They don't affect the pinion angle, they "fix" the angle of the control arms. When you lower a car, the control arms are then angled up(towards the back of the car). This will cause any case of wheel hop to be amplified, instead of transfering weight to the rear, the suspension tries to lift the rear of the car.

The Relocation Brackets correct this by correcting the angle of the control arms with respect to the ground. I added BMR's bolt in ones and noticed a good increase in traction on the exit of a corner, but it increased brake dive about by the same proportion (not nec. a bad thing, it helped the push).

Hope I helped, sorry if I didn't

Roger

Good info. It helps me to know what I will gain if I do decide to install relocation brackets.

I am not too thrilled on the design and installation instructions with the BMR brackets.

If someone were to install them just by following the instructions and not thinking on their own, the installation can be screwed up very easily.

There is no positive mounting position for the brackets (until welded of course). They bolt into the stock bolt location and are allowed to pivot on that bolt for a varying degree of mounting positions.

You could try to return them and get BMR's bolt on ones and if the must be welded on , well, weld them on.

The bolt on's are positively mounted using the shock mount bolt and the stock c-arm mounting hole. Just bolt them on and then weld them in place for peace of mind. (Mine are just bolted on, no probs, yet)....

Just do this. Bolt the BMR LCA relocation brackets into the stock bolt location, ( like the instructions say ) then bolt the LCA up to the bracket, then weld the bracket in place. Do this one side at a time with the full weight of the car on it's suspension.Set the car on big blocks under the tires to give yourself room to work if you don't have access to a lift. Make sure the e-brake is on to avoid the rear end shifting around. To help with the gap at the rear of the bracket, you can tap the rear portion inward with a BFH while it's on the bench and trial fit it until the gap disapears or is very small. It doesn't take very long to do this.
