I was looking at different tires at tire rack and not liking the options for 315/35/17, I checked 335/35/17 and found Hoosier A3S03 & R3203. Looks like a realy good tire for the track. Any one kow anyting about this or if maybe they make them in a 315. I think I my have found traction!! <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />

They definitely make them both in 315/35/17.
The A3S03 is for autocrossing. It is the top tire, but wears quickly.
S3S03 is for road racing. It takes longer to heat up but lasts longer. A lot of people also run Kumhos and Nittos on road courses.

I roadrace a rx-7 & we use the Hoosiers on most tracks. Toyo has a r rated tie that works real good. It is not quite as fast as the hoosier, but does not over heat & go away like the hoisier if you over drive it. The toyo tends to wear better, lots better. It depends on how much you want to spend. Spend it on tires or entry fees?
I also run Kumho v700 275/40/17 on my 95 Big Black Impala SS for autocrossing (2002 f-stock champion, Al. region) They have held up well w/ 4400 lbs mashing on them. Hope this helps.

I forgot, call Vilven tire, In ILL I think. They supply tires at a lot of races, so they can tell you what works. Very helpful to me.

It's not really that hard of a call to make to decide between Hoosier R and Kumho Victoracers. Kumhos are a MUCH better compromise tire for autoxing and road courses than a Hoosier R. Kumhos can be driven to the track. Kumhos will last longer.
Hoosiers are faster than Kumhos on a road course and the Hoosier A compound is faster than Kumhos on an autox course. Hoosiers are MUCH more expensive than Kumhos. Hoosiers are MUCH lighter. You should never drive more than a very few miles on Hoosiers on the street if you value your investment and kidneys.
I've run Hoosiers for autoxing and would still be using them if I didn't start doing open track events also. Having 2 sets of tires for autox and road courses is too much to spend for me when I'm just having fun. Kumhos for me now.
BTW, don't try to run a 335/35 on a rim narrower than 12". That'll be tough to fit in the rear of your car without some flares.

I run Kumho V700 Victoracers. They are about half the price and last twice as long. And take double duty (autox and road race).
Hoosiers are faster, but only by a few tenths. Not worth the extra cost and decreased life span to me...

If you put any stock in the annual tire test by Grassroots Motorsports...
Two dif drivers on a bunch of sets of tires on the same course, same day, same car. The Hoosier wins out by 3 or 4 tenths.. (this is autox)
They do a ton of tire changes in one day to do this test, with 10 or so dif types of tires.

However, if you're not truly out to win a competitive event you're just burning $100 bills using Hoosiers. Or is it just that I'm jealous that I don't have the budget to use Hoosiers for track days . . .
