Help ignorant drag racers with $2005 challenge car shock selection
Hi folks,
I'm hoping that some of the kind folks here will be able to help a drag racer with Solo II shock selection for a car that we're entering in the $2005 grassroots challenge. Thought your experience with powerful live axle cars might be a help to us.
Our car is a 1984 Buick Grand National and though we have the straight line acceleration figured out, we're hopelessly inexperienced with shocks well suited to Solo II racing using this platform. I know rebound dampening is going to be key, but we don't have the budget for anything fancy-- only $2,005 for the car and all modifications.
We're currently leaning toward the KYB gas-a-just, which comes to only $120 for all four corners, but would love feedback on other options. Probably can't afford a total of more than $200 on shocks, so Bilsteins are out of the picture.
Great sources for used suspension parts also appreciated.
Many thanks for reading, happy driving!
Scott
