Default z06 road racing questions

i am new to ls1tech and have been searching for a good website to ask and get accurate responses to my questions and judging by what i see with other threads i would think this site would be my choice. I have some questions for people who know alot about or do race z06's/c5's.

First i would like to know if price didnt matter what would be the best suspension setup for a c-5. Please list what parts and who makes them and where i could find them, also try to list the top 3 setups.

Second i would like to know if once again price didnt matter what brake kit would be best for the Vette. I see on brembo's site they go up to an 8 piston caliper which might be more than overkill but i would like to know what people think would be "top of the line" braking for the c-5 z06

Thank you in advance....

I don't know how helpful I'll be since I don't own a Vette, but I'll give you a few thoughts. Race on what you've got for the time being. I know that's not what you asked (or wanted to hear), but your car is already set up very well for handling. Buy yourself some light wheels, put some race rubber on it, and go have fun for awhile. I honestly don't think you'd need to change too much unless you're trying to be competative and doing it for more than just fun.

As for the brakes, I have always heard the tires are the limiting factor for braking, not clamping force. I think an 8 piston would be a waste of your money. Again, I realize it's not what you are looking for, but after putting my first season of autocrossing behind me and spending a 2 day weekend at a road course, I'd upgrade to stainless brake lines, get some Hawk pads (quick brake bleeders if you want, too), and then the mentioned wheels/tires. I think you'd have a blast. Good luck.

thank you for the recommendation on who to talk to, i also think i want to talk to someone from lgmotorsports after looking at there website.. Anyone have any personal input on them?

Also i know 8 piston would be more than overkill but i would like to know what would be the "ultimate". I understand that a stock z06 with the right rubber handles very well i have spent some time in them and am a experienced autoxer/roadracer. I am looking for the top of the line setups for this car and would also like to know which bushings every one would recommend

Thank you all for your help again..

Also anyone know what kind of power a M6 trans can hold or will hold track day after track day?!?.

LG is very reputable.

My buddy herein germany has a Z06 . His first mod he did after I showed him the Hockenheim Ring was brakes. He got a the Porsche GT3 4piston Setup From Movit. They now adapted the six oiston setup now.

His Second mod was a complete Corvette T2 suspension setup.
Its quite the show when he takes it to the uber wagens of germany.

But the advice given above is very sound. Plus I hate replacing anything until its worn out or its holding me back.

I can tell you that in the ORR arena the T56 hasn't been shown to actually have a weak point. Lot's of guys are running 6-700 rwhp with them with no issues once they have a cooling solution in place. However there's little to no shifting involved in ORR either so take that with a grain of salt

Just in case you're still watching this board, I'll offer a couple suggestions. Suspension-wise you might want to contact Doug Rippie Motorsports. They've been doing coilover conversions for roadracing Vettes for years. They also use AP brakes which are top quality. Look at Stoptech brakes as well. LG and other Vettes run them on their World Challenge cars. Bang- for-the-buck, however, probably goes to the factory T-1 suspension which has dominated that class for years. For bushings, I use Vette Brakes' kit which may be the best on the market.

BTW, if you haven't been to the Autocrossing and Roadracing board on the Corvette Forum, check it out.
