I had the part numbers and got a price from Oval Speed near me. I need to find them and get some stuff going for spring. Performance difference in the button FW.

The button flywheel greatly reduces the moment of inertia (MOI) by keeping the weight of the assembly closer to the center of the crank.

Anyone interested in a 3 disk 7.25" diameter carbon/carbon clutch assembly? This would be the ultimate setup, but would be fairly pricey. Realistically it would be the last clutch you would have to buy. It can be shimmed several times to compensate for wear.

Sad part is every time I try to get a QM I get different part #'s, different vendors some who tell me to buy a Exedy after you reccommend them, prices from 1600 to 700 for the same assembly
I about give up. Your dealer network needs major help for sure.

Andrew-
I'd be interested in a race/street setup. I do an honest 300 miles/wk and then road race 1 weekend a month in Time Trial unlimited with NASA.
"In about a week I will be installing this setup in my RX7 that has an LS1/T56 combo. Its a daily driver."
I would love to hear your feedback on how this works out.
I have about 17K miles on my Fidanza alum flywheel/RAM 910/VDS PP setup and it has been holding up great. This includes about 15 strip passes dumping the clutch. I would be very interested in your offering so long as I don't have to change out my clutch/adjust every month......

Mark!
It was great meeting you!
A clutch that really shines in road racing applications is not really going to be well suited for drag racing. The two activities have very different requirements.
I will keep everyone posted as to the progress on my RX7 with the 1 disk 8.5" clutch. For a lightweight vehicle with moderate power like I have, a 1 disk is plenty.
I plan on making some video clips showing the difference in the way the engine revs with a stock clutch compared to a lightweight clutch.

Speed,
I'm looking at this setup from ram $500
http://www.ramclutches.com/Products/7.25%20single.htm
Ram said they could make a LS1 Button in 3-4 weeks. Ram is a LS1tech sponsor

I haven't been following this thread, however, in other cars carbon clutches have worked in both applications. The carbon's ability to handle the power for drag racing, low inertia, and streetable engagement and slipping.
There are issues in getting the material right. Some carbons can get to grabby on the street.
I'm not a vendor. However, oval track 3-disc setups for SBC with a 5.5" button clutch, flywheel, hydaulic throwout brearing, bellhousing, and starter are about $1800 (Speedup, you can ask Dennis). Tilton has a Sonic line in the same range.
For Supras, the larger 2 disc carbon setups from Exedy, ATS, and RAM are all in the mid to high $2k range. I would expect LS1 carbon setups to run the same. Where the heck are they?

I have an Exedy Dual Disc clutch in my TA. It was 16lbs lighter than my Ram Billet Flywheel/Spec 3 clutch setup. It's wonderful for road racing, but not so good for street driving or drag racing. The lightweight setup doesn't store up much inertia so launching is much trickier than before.
If anybody would like to buy it, I'll sell it for a very aggressive price. They are over $2,000 brand new. I'd sell it for a 1/4 of that price. My car sees too many street miles to justify this kind of clutch. Like I said, for road racing, it's the best clutch I've ever run, bar none!
