I don't think it gives you more HP it just gives you better acceleration and deceleration. When you let off it is like hitting the brakes.

If you were to do the testing on a steady state dyno, there would be no difference. On an inertia chassis dyno, like a dynojet, you will see an increase at the rear wheels. I really can't say how much.

I run an RPS unit and it has served me well. I think the flywheel is only 13 lbs or so and the pp/disk another 10 max. Pricey for a single disk though at 1100 bucks, but has held up extremely well.

I would be interested in a button style clutch. I have some left over tiltons from our race cars I'm going to make work.

That's why I wanted an aluminum, but as my car is my dailydriver, I had to go with a billit steel fw on a OZ 700. Dammit! I need another car for road racing and a winch to put it on the trailer.

Pat, Ill take that exedy if you still got it.

Andrew, Ive tried, and tried, and tried yet again to get QM to work with us. I had the Hawk, QM, and someone else all in my trailer at mid ohio this year and every one said they would man up and make something happen for us.

Not a thing. No calls, no answers, nothing.

I use tilton carbon/carbon on the WC car, flywheel and clutch weighs 8#s I can rebuild it 3x per year, have the feet machined and reuse it 3 more times.

We are working on a Tilton Carbon/carbon 8.25 twin/triple with those guys for an LG Exclusive. Should work out very well. No more hydraulic issues and much nicer engagement. No chatter or squeal. Best of both worlds but it does carry a hefty pricetag.

As for quarter master stuff, its great. Ive used them in the past and as long as you drive the car properly, they work and hold very well.

The advantage with any smaller clutch is that the syncros have less work to do. Shifting is smoother and easier, and acceleration is drastically improved along with throttle response.

The cost of the carbon for a clutch that big was out of this world, we have since dropped that project in favor of a newer, less expensive material. Hoping to release by may/june?

I called RPS and they quoted a carbon/carbon twin disc at $3K.

I have been running the Spec lightweight aluminum clutch for 3 years now. The friction ring is 2/3 aluminum & 1/3 steel by thickness.

large diameter means more moment of inertia even if it was the same weight.

If anyone was going to use a 5.5", 7.25", or an 8.5" clutch, you would need to install a different throw out bearing with a radius face. Here are pictures of a Quarter Master tri-lite bearing installed in a T56 this will be used with a single disk 8.5".
