Default Brake cooling. who is doing it?

I was at Miller Motorsports track a few weeks ago and saw an LT1 F-bod there. Mostly stock, usual bolt ons. I noticed he had made some brake cooling ducting for his front brakes. He encorporated using the outter edges of the air damn, and used AC/Heater vent velocity type of entry to some brake duct hose.

I never found the owner of the car, it was homemade, but done very well (didnt look crappy)

I wanted to know if anyone else is using a similar system, pics if you have them, and if anyone noticed a benifit from using them.

My current braking system is stock calipers, Brembo Blank rotors, Super blue ATE fluid. Hawk HP plus pads. I am looking to getting Earls stainless braided lines as well.

You can start by searching for Severn Motorsports. I made my own setup similar to theirs before seeing it, then later on I purchased their SS ducts and added them to my setup.

PPC Proven Performance Concepts. Sorry I bought one of their last kits of Ebay about a year ago! Before they went out of buisness they used to be a sponsor here.

I used a piece of mandrel bent 2.5 inch tubing. It is a "U" shaped part I got from Summit Racing. I cut into 2 "J" shaped parts with 90 degree ends. Then cut 45 degree pieces off of the 90 degree ends. I welded exhaust flanges to the long end of each pipe. Cut a 2.5 inch hole in the air damn on each side of the car. Put the pipe through the holes and bolted the flange to the air dam and used a muffler hanger to suspend the pipe. There is a great place for this on an already existing bolt. Then I put the 45 degree pieces that I cut earlier on the spindle area and held them in place with a 3.5 inch radiator clamp. Then I used 2.5 inch 600 degree F silicone flex hose between the 2 metal parts and secured it with 2.5 inch radiator clamps. Then a few nylon zip ties to keep the flex line on the tie rods and all is good. I run the car at local road courses and use Carbotech pads. Last year without the air ducts I had brake fade all the time. This year with the ducts the brakes work great. If anybody is really interested PM me and I can get some pics.

The one I did on a couple of my 4th gens was similar to this:

http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...25_13_full.jpg

I copied mine from an LT1 racer's page, the guys name was Steve Sampson, but I don't know what happened the page or the guy since then (late 90's).

They worked for SURE though, I could tell a big difference in back to back Road Atlanta sessions.

Does anyone have a link to Severn Motorsports. . .I've done a search but I can't come up with a website for them. . .I see them referenced in this forum and in the SCCA tech letters and rules, but nowhere else.

Thanks

You gonna make Mid-Ohio with NASA in a couple weeks?
If so, look for the #70 Black and Silver CMC Camaro.
Stop by and say hi.
