Default TWS Clockwise

Here are some videos from Texas World Speedway Clockwise (normal race direction is counter-clockwise). I was running with Porsche Club of America (PCA) in the yellow run group. 99 Formula: all stock except for front sway bar, Konis, and some nearly corded 555RII's.

First is a highlight video of all the Porsches I passed:

Here all 8 sessions, unedited:

Isn't CW a kick in the pants?

Remember ... don't hit the brakes till you are on the flat.

Yeah, I have run it before, and I definately like it better than CCW. I do have a problem staying on the brakes over the transition. Luckily, with my stock springs, it dooesn't upset the car hardly at all.

Haha, yeah. There was a guy in a C6 who was a little faster than me. One session I started behind him, but without traffic, he would pull away slowly. Also, an instructor running in an S2000 was about as fast as the C6: I could almost keep up, but not quite.

I'm not raining on your parade, but it seems like most of the people you passed weren't really driving flat out, ***** to the wall. It seems most yuppie porsche owners hit the track and just tool around like it's a sunday drive. The yellow GT3 (if that was it) sure seemed to be racing though. Nice vid, car sounds great for stock exhaust.

Yeah, I know. Most of them were going really slow, not pushing at all.

But passing Porsches with my stock Formula makes me feel like a real race car driver .

After a few years of doing track days and now racing wheel to wheel, I have come to a single realization ...

At ANY level of motorsport you have 3 classifications of drivers ...

A talented driver that is fast in anything. Racing is his primary source of income.
A talented driver that is driving an under-funded car. Has to work a real job to fund the habit.
A "driver" that has a fat wallet backing him up. Born with or knows someone born with money.

Well over 50% of the cars on tracks today fall into the last category.

That looks like a blast! What kind of camera mount do you have? For Road Atlanta, I just had the passenger video (not allowed). Seems like the Porsche guys arms must get tired waving you on by. Also, that looks like a lot of racing . What did you top out at on the straight? The PCA is doing a similar one at the Virginia Int'l Raceway. How do you get hooked up with them? The Road Atlanta is only every 3 mos. Long time to wait!! Got to find someplace else. TMS looks like a blast. The Corvette seemed to be doing pretty good except for the one turn . Got to love the F-body handling!

I made my own camera mount. I have an LG harness bar, which is 1.25 inches in diamater. I wrapped the bar with some foam/blue tape to bring the diameter up to 1.5 inches. Welded the base of two 1.5 in exhuast clamps onto a 3 in square peice of steel plate. Then a 1/4-20 bolt in the middle of the plate to screw into the camera. Then it all clamps onto the harness bar.

To run a PCA event, I just signed up on their website, http://www.clubregistration.net/ This has events listed for PCA regions all over the country. There are events at Texas World Speedway all the time: Driver's Edge, Motorsports Club, Nasa, and PCA are all clubs I have run with.

On the front straight, I would hit the limiter in 4th gear very briefly, which is ~133 mph. On the back straight, I would guess I hit 105-110, too busy too look at the speedo.
