Default road racing and stock rear end

is anyone out there doing auto X or road racing using the stock rear end?

i just got a 2000 Z28 M6. not looking to increase the power to anything too far beyond stock levels. maybe some weight saving though. but the rear end does need work as is AND im a cheap bastard so i might just want to beef the stock unit up a little instead of going for a 9inch true track.

what do you think?

Most Auto-X/Road Racers use the stock rear with a Torsen TR2 differential. It is by far the best set up for this type of racing. What kills most 10 bolts are hard launches from a dig or in some occasions when downshifting in the highway to 2 or third putting a lot of load on the rear that + traction spells doom to most 10 bolts. Usually when Auto-Xing or Road Racing you are encouraged to be a lot smoother with your shifts as it will prevent you from upseting your suspension and thus loosing traction. So even with race rubber 10 bolts breakage is rare compared to drag racing where it is very common.

Do a search on Torsen TR2 and there should be plenty of post on this subject.
