Default Results: Big Willow

So I headed out to Big Willow today with two Corvettes (a 2000 C5 and a 2008 LS3 C6) for a track day. The weather was perfect, a little chilly, but excellent (55 degrees, light wind)! I was hoping to best my last lap time of 1.53.36. On my first session, I managed a best of 1.51.96. Second session I had to use my cigarette adapter to power my video camera, as it died after 15 minutes in session one. The second session netted me a 1.46.96! The third session was after lunch, and my buddy with the C5 had a great shot giving chase to me, he runs low 1.38.xx. On this final session for me, I netted a 1.46.22! But I also found the edge of these tires. Nothing like flooring it coming out of a turn doing 100 MPH and the back end start to sway as the tires loose grip. You can clearly see this on the video as I correct for the slide. I like power sliding, but not at over 80 MPH. I also mananged to top out at 135 MPH down the front straight, from my previous 127 MPH. I will post the videos up later, as well as the chase video from that C5. It was a great day, although I am beat from the experience. Not to shabby for a factory stock suspension F-body on street tires.

Edit:
2000 C5 chases my 2001 Camaro SS

Well to us, this was pretty cold, we are used to 70-80 degrees.

Here is an in car vidoe of one of my best lap times:

Note time frame 1:15, where I had to correct for tire spin at 80mph coming out of a corner.

Hah very cool, the vette looked to be an auto as well? Just be carefull not to cook it, if you are gonna continue doing road racing events you should really consider an active cooling system for the auto tranny (unless you already have one.) A few suspension parts will make the car a lot easier to drive as well (get rid of the wiggles.)

Anyone going out to Big Willow on Saturday 2/2/08 for SpeedTrialUSA?
I'll be helping a friend do some chassis setup on a Porsche 914 500HP 383" SBC. Can't miss the car; high wing and loud 180* headers. Runs with the advanced group.
