Default intake comparisons

*I found this while searching the web
Can anyone confirm these numbers or have a link to something similar?
*Ive read several times where the truck intake makes more tq than the others
Is the reason for this, the taller design?
*Ive also heard the LS6 intake makes alot more power up high than the truck intake
Does anyone have any comparisons
based on rpm instead of lift?

If I remember right, the truck intake is pretty good, just f'n ugly.
Chevy High Performance magazine did intake swaps (LS1,Truck, LS6) earlier this year, maybe you can run the issue down.

Hey GD. Thanks for posting this. Me and a guy were lookin for it. No, I cannot confirm the numbers but, I will be swapping over to the LS6 intake and I will personally let you know how it goes since you seem to be interested.

Later on.

Go to the external engine section. There's a sticky on induction mod's. Section F. on the first page is intake manifold & there's a link comparing various intake flows.

i believe the truck intake has slightly longer intake runners, which is what adds to the higher design. This is also what gives it the extra low end torque that you speak of. I'm no engineer, but I believe normally the longer the intake runner the better the throttle response and low end it produces.

I think this has to do with flow.

Remember hp = torque X rpm / 5252

So the higher the PEAK toque is produced the higher the PEAK hp will be, EVEN if the actual torque produced (lb ft) is EXACTLY the same.

Thus you get the variance. Trucks usually need more low down grunt, this will sacrifice top end power but will be better for towing and hauling.

A car is less concerned with towing as a rule and top end power is far more important.
