Hey Guys I'm close to finishing my 396 Lt1 build but just found out my Johnson hydraulic roller lifters are a little too short for my small base circle cam.I did some research and found out that Crane makes some taller lifters CRN-10535-16 but I can't get them until a month from now and they are very expensive.Does anybody know of a replacement roller lifter that is the same lenth. Thanks
How much of the lifter is sticking out? You could always have the dogbones milled on one side for better contact with the lifter body (assuming the lift isn't enough to raise it). I haven't measured them but it looks like you could gain about a tenth. Not sure how much this would compromise rigidity but I've never heard of one breaking. You would also have to bend the spider a little to compensate for shorter height.
1.250" is stock bc and mine is 1.050" so the lifters sit 0.1" lower in their bores. Yours sit 0.175" lower.
Ok so I did a little research and found out that Howards makes a Lifter that is .100 of an inch longer and are 500.00 dollars lest than Cranes.I'm hoping they are long enough.I'll find out in a couple of days. Thanks for checking.By the way the lifter PN 91174. HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE
