Yes, it would depend on the actual trans and pan you are using. I have a 4L80 in the car right now with a stock pan and the pan is lower than the headers; when I had a 4L60 in there previously with a stock pan, the 3" outlets of the of the collectors were dead even with the bottom of the pan.

That sounds good Todd. How about some pictures of the engine and trans in the car. Is the factory trans. cross member going to work or did you make a new one?

I will post some images by the end of the week after I've had a chance to make some adjustments to the engine brackets. Yes, there will be a crossmember offered as part of the system components.

Sounds great. So does the 4L80 fit in the tunnel without too much modification?

Yes, as long as you use the forward-bias set of engine brackets you will only have to provide extra clearance for the trans cooler lines, speed sensor connector and band lug case protrusions. All of these can be dealt with without cutting the floor open.

Hmmmm. I may have to rethink the 6L80 then.

You may indeed want to...here's some photos of the LS/4L80 mock-up loaded into the 65 GTO.

Yes, there's no clearance issues with any components.

looking good Todd! My build has not yet begun due to delays with the builder. If he keeps putting me off and you keep progressing I just might be able to buy your system. Keep working!!

Overall it fits great. There will be some hammer massaging of the tunnel required to provide clearance for the speed sensor, cooler lines/fittings and the band anchor pin protrusions on the case, but there will be no requirement to cut the tunnel open or perform any welding. They key is the forward biasing of the eng/transmission mating plane that is provided for by the forward bias Hooker engine brackets.

It looks like the transmission is about 1 to1 1/2" foreward of the firewall. Can you take a picture directly over the back of the engine and transmission. I am curious as to how much room is left to work with if I try to put the 6L80 in the car. Thanks

The forward bias engine brackets in this application relocate the engine/transmission mating plane 1-1/16" forward from the stock SB Chevy location. Here's the reference measurement you asked for...notice the tip of the tape measure is inside the recess that is present at the bottom of the firewall before it turns under into the tunnel.

Is the plan to have headers and an exhaust as part of the kit?

Absolutely, this application will follow that of the 68-72 A-body, which will be to include two sets of engine brackets, a transmission crossmember, long-tube headers, mid-length headers and 2.5" and 3" exhaust systems. If you're not used to the way we develop our LS swap applications, you'll notice that we refer to them as "systems" as apposed to "kits", since the parts are designed to work together but are available separately.

Any updates? I just got in my Holley 302-2 pan today so I'm hoping to get that installed this weekend even though I won't be ready to install the engine until I do my restoration later this year. If you need any measurements from my 67 gto let me know as I will be pulling the 400 out in a week or 2

Here is what we did to install the 6L80 in my 1965 Buick Skylark. The motor is around 1.25" off the firewall. Similar to the rear position of the Holley motor mounts. We raised the tunnel around 1" to 1.25". Here are a couple of pictures.

Hmmm, this is the best picture I have with it all finished.
