Ok.... got turned around a bit. The 4th servo is in the 2-4 cover correct? If so that is stock. Sorry about the confusion
The 2-4 servo assembly is exactly how the previous builder had it
Alrighty....... So I finished the transmission last night at about 10:30 pm and installed it today. In general the install went well considering I was on 4 jack stands.
I put about 100 miles on it today and so far it is absolutely flawless. Shifts so damn nice. I did not go WOT, just ½ throttle and ¾ throttle and it's way nice so far.
I would like to thank everyone who posted in this thread
And a special thanks to clinebarger and mrvedit ! You guys helped me out a ton and I thank you for being generous with your time and patience.
My apologies for some wrong terminology and mis labeling of parts but like the title says, Rookie build. Lol
Finished Transmission

Never seen anyone build a Trans over White Carpet before, You must be single.....My wife would flip over that!
Lol, ya...I have a girlfriend but live alone.
You were right about the reverse input drum. Took it back apart Friday morning-evening and it absolutely had been turned before. I don't know why I decided to reuse it, just a stupid short cut I guess and I knew better !
In the end I learned a ton and got my band clearance tightened up and everything worked out.
Again, thank you
Transmission is still working beautifully.
Installed my transmission temp gauge today. Sending unit in the pan. Went for about a 1 hour drive with a couple WOT, some stop and go but mostly 55 mph cruising. The weather today is 55 degrees and sunny and the transmission temps never got over 135 degrees.

Looks great! Glad to hear yours is working great!... I test mine tonight, got it installed late last night but it was late and I didn't want to wake my neighbors... I hope I have as good as luck as you are

Good luck dude
Post up the news when ya test it out.

Well I tested it... Shifts good... had a few scares as at first it started up under load and seems like it was in reverse when in park and neutral. It finally broke in as was normal and I performed a good amount of the first break-in. Now the only bad part is that I'm not getting my TCC to lockup. So it looks like I need to dig back into the valve body to see whats up... hopefully its something simple like a loose electrical connection or something.
Question.... Went to the track today and was short shifting, 5600 rpm's on the 1-2 and about 5800 on the 2-3.
Shift points set at 6200.
Did not have this problem before the rebuild and don't think it's something I did in this rebuild. Question is do I need a retune after tightening up clearances or is it a sensor issue. No ses light. TPS sensor? VSS ?
I have to tune a 7200 shift to get an actual 6900 shift.
I think the 411 PCM "assumes" a much slower shifting trans and therefore starts the shift a few hundred RPM earlier than specified so that the final shift occurs near the specified RPM.
Interesting my earlier '98 PCM was spot on, but my 411 ('02) PCM needs to be tuned 200-300 RPM higher.
In short, it sounds normal to me.

What would cause a short shift? Before my rebuild, just going by the tach, it would shift right after 6,000 rpm's.
Now, again going by the tach readings, 1-2 is short shifting, I can feel it as much as I can see it at 5500 rpms.
I do not do my own tuning but it's the exact tune as I had before the rebuild
Like I posted earlier in this thread, I did have excess 2-4 band clearance and am assuming it had excess band clearance from the beginning in which it would of been tuned like this from the last rebuild. My old band did not have any ware and the reverse input drum had been turned that's the way it was tuned ( with excess band clearance )
Band clearance was about .245" and I got it at about .110" now. Would that cause a 1-2 short shift by tightening up the band clearance that much in turn needing a tune tweak?

Have it tuned, Have you actually looked at the 1-2 shift MPH & RPM settings in the Tune?

No I have not, I have a tuner I bring my car to but don't know where things are set.
Before I rebuilt it I had a shop rebuild it, put a converter in it then had my tuner tune it and it worked flawless.
Now after tightening up clearances in the transmission on my build it still works flawless. solid, quick shifts, no slipping/flaring, trans temps are perfect, it's just short shifting on the 1-2
