Installing a GM MEFI 5 ECM on cable throttle, so need an IAC. The MEFI 5 seems not to work with the GM style as its only capable of an open or closed signal. The GM IAC seem to be 4 wire stepper motors (more than just open/closed) whereas the older Ford are 2 wire- either open or closed solenoid. Since the throttle body is fitted for a GM IAC I can't simply install the Ford. Question is, anyone ever try wiring a GM to be 2 position? Thinking maybe I can only use 2 of the 4 leads.
We just happen to make a fitting that goes in the factory IAC location on the throttle body that converts it over to a 3/8" hose barb. We use these on all of our MEFI 5 systems. We also carry a 2 pin IAC with a remote mount bracket that has 2 more 3/8" barbs coming out of it. It is a nice simple little setup that would solve your problem. Let me know if you need some more info on how we do it!
