thanks man, it just took a little while to get it to where i could put some power down
the car has always backhalfed pretty hard. i think it would have gone an 8.5x at 159 ish if we were running them out the back.

well i couldnt leave well enough alone so i started selling parts and buying new one's

Ended up with a forced inductions billet s476r to replace the apex. i thought the apex was a 76/96 but its the smaller 76/92

its pretty massive compared to the compact cover on the old s476...i might have to grind on the hood a little to get it to fit

yessir
my old converter worked good, just didnt go much faster with the boost turned up.
after putting the ptc in i though something was wrong with it...lol
the first time i put it on the trans brake, it hit the 2 step like i had pushed the clutch in...it spools so much faster than the old one

picked up a set of k1 rods and had cp carillo build me a set of pistons.
new shortblock should be back from the machine shop early next week.

hopefully i can pick up a decent amount of power over the old setup and not feel like im rolling the dice every time i turn the boost up

It should be a good bit faster with the billet borg. We got that same turbo running 5.50 to the 1/8th in a car 7-800lbs heavier then yours on less boost then you were running with the apex. So I'm guessing you will be bottom 5's at your weight without trying too hard.

thats what im hoping for
dont want to have to push it as hard to make power.
if itll go 5.20s on a safe tuneup next year ill be happy.

the apex worked great for the price, but i dont think itll go much farther

Cool car -

The best part of the thread was the guy posting in a drag race thread asking if a drag car had IRS for taking "twists and turns"

Great thread. The progression you've had is awesome! Congrats!

I'm thinking of building a 76mm turbo deal for my car in 2017. Threads like these are an inspiration.

i appreciate it
ive had a lot of help getting it as quick as it is.
its not setting records or setting the world on fire but im real proud of it.
the guy that tunes it has tuned a few of the fastest stock bottom end cars in the country. its a turd compared to their stuff but im having fun in the series ive been racing and i think its pretty impressive for the rules it has to meet

I really wish I had access to some of these people. It seems like there are some tuners that are able to just make these things last and run really well while most other can only do one or the other.
Beautiful car man I would love to do an 03 cobra swap some day it's a timeless body style

been working on this thing on and off for the last week or so

got the old motor pulled out without too much effort

after pulling it apart everything looked good still, there was a small spot on the edge of one of the chambers on the cylinder head that looked like it had seen some detonation but its nothing I'd worry about
