I'm putting in my tank tomorrow since I was converting to E85 and then the motor in next week I hope. I'm excited that Mickey Thompson came out again with a 3559 275 60 15 ET R but in a radial again. No price yet or availability but they said soon. it will be ready for NMCA in Bradenton. I finally put in a 6 point with swing outs.

Tried my hand at a little no-prep racing last night. Pretty wild stuff. It is not easy getting a street car with drag radials down the track. But, I managed to get it down the track when it counted. Overall it was a lot of fun.

Cannot wait to get in some events this year. I'll be behind in the season when the coupe is together, but oh well.

One of the last pair of the old 3754R Mickey Thompsons. This set is spent. I need to choose what I will use next now that these are discontinued.

Here's an event pic from saturday night:

I'm kinda in the same boat I run those same tires now and they're getting worn. Trying to decide whether to try their new design or give the Hoosier drag radials a shot. Kinda sucks they discontinued these.

I have a great contact at Mickey Thompson. He keeps me in the loop on all the small tire stuff. Part number 3453 is the new 275/60/15 "ET Street S/S". He tells me it's the identical tire to the 3754 but with a new sipe design to aid with wet road traction. He said they will act/react identically on the track as the old tire.

Of course there is the 3754X which is the 275 pro and it's a pretty amazing tire.

Then there is the 3559, which is the 275/60/15 ET Street R Radial. I don't know much about this tire, but i'd guess it's going to fall somewhere between the 3453 and the 3754X based on tread design.

If you're going to continue no prep, I'd consider a 3055S with a tube (28x10.5 stiffwall bias ply slick) and rim screws. This would offer you the most consistency and most recoverability in the event you begin to spin. That is the biggest problem with radials is they have a hard time recovering once they spin.

Must not have been too un-prepped with that wheel danglin' there! car looks like it's working amazing Steven!

The racers in Extreme Street and Ultra type classes are not reporting the same good results that M/T promised with the new S/S. It may be better in the rain, but I have been told it is not nearly as good at the starting line.

The 3754x is probably what I will buy next since the new Street R is not out yet.

I was able to get the car to take the hit every time. Unfortunately about 20-30 ft out it wanted to unload. Even on the good passes you could see it slipping and grabbing all through first gear in the data logs.

My friend who beat me hit the wall on the very next pass and wadded his car up pretty good. So, I don't see myself doing too much more no prep. My car was not built for that and I don't want to meet the same fate.

3559....and I'm waiting....BUT, otherwise its going to be the Hoosier Drag Radial (great reports on traction/bad reports on longevity)

And ....how are you logging ?

I'm wanting a data logger but figured just the MAP, RPM, and AFR should do ?

The one I'm looking at...Innovate Motorsports 3875 PL-1 Pocket Logger Kit

I am using the Daytona Sensors dual wideband WEGO. It has data logging. I also have the Daytona Sensors nitrous controller that will data log also. I want to start using that because I understand it can take the output shaft sensor data from my 4L80E. That way I can have DS speed vs. crank speed data too.

Got it...Thanks. But that's an add-on to the box, correct ?

I can log using my laptop, but what a PITA that would be....but did try it with Daughter in the car just running around the block.

I already have the Innovate SSI-4 to link everything

The WEGO has built in memory and data logging. After a run, you download that data via USB into your laptop to view it on thier free viewer app.

fwiw, my car is lighter than some of ya'lls but the Hoosiers last really good on my car. I can get a easy year out of a set that I buy from a 275 racer after they put about 20-30 runs on them. I have the new Hoosier 295/55 on mine now. 12.3 section width, 10.25 tread width. This tire is a true 28 inches tall. Its the biggest tire I could get under my car without tubs. It really looks good. The new Hoosiers are the DR2, I have heard they are good. IDK.I know my old Hoosiers worked better than the Mickey's on my car.
