Default C5 wheels on Fbody...

Hey guys,

I've searched around and can't find anything. I have C5 vette wheels, 17" front, 18" rear. Cant remember widths but I believe when I measured when I balanced them, the rears were 10.5 and the fronts were 9.5. Everywhere I look doesn't agree. Maybe I measured wrong, but that's not my question lol.

Has anyone every mixed 2 sets of these up and ran 17s all around or 18s all around? I love the look on my car, but I don't like the choices for tires with an 18" wheel, and the increased cost.

My car is at a shop right now, otherwise I'd just go flip the wheels around and see what they fit like. My 18s rubbed, and I don't like that. They are also very far in the wheel well.

If anyone has any info, it'd be appreciated. I really like these wheels and would like to stick with them. Not looking for super wide tires either. Just want a 275 out back (what it has now) and 275 up front would be fine.

I might just be asking way too much lol. Thanks for any help!

I ran 17 C6 replica wheels that were 9.5 all round and had no issues. Looked pretty good.

OEM C5's are 17x8.5/18x9.5. Max safe tire width on them is 255 for 8.5" and 285 for 9.5". They sit in the wheel well because the offsets are different on Vettes. You can run a hub centric spacer to bring them out...1.25" should work well. Otherwise, your best bet is to run OE Wheels 18x10.5 deep dish replicas.

I don't know, when I measured the wheels when unbalanced them, they measured 10.5".

And the whole point of asking was because I want to get away from 18s. A 17x9.5" or 10" wheel is what I'm looking for, and that's what my fronts measured (9.5"). I want a thin 5 spoke like what I have now, in 17 x 9.5/10", with a backspace to where they won't rub the inside of the wheel well.

You will have zero issues running 17 x 9.5 on all four corners with a 17/40/275 tire

My biggest concern wasn't the wheel fitting in the wheel well, it was whether or not the OEM C5 offset will pull the wheel too far in. I can't take the uncertainty anymore so I'm going out to the shop tonight to check and see.

throw some spacers in there ...that will solve your problems.

I have the 17/18's and I hated how they stuck in the wells to far so i added a 20mm spacer on the fronts and a 25mm spacer on the rears

problem solved

go to that link dojob posted...its all in there

I went out and the 17s sit in the wheel well just like the 18s. The tire is even with the bottom of the bumper, or sticks out just a little past the bottom. They are about an inch or so in from the top of the fenders edge. I'm fine with that. 275s should fit good. I'll post pictures (if I remember) once the new 17s are on.

I just found scuff marks from my y2k set up that I'm running. I'm actually going back to stock.
