while i was pulling everything i had a spare 5.3 block, a fresh factory crank, k1 rods, and cp carillo pistons sent to the machine shop.
they bored the block to 3.905, installed new cam bearings, balanced the rotating assembly, and filed the rings for me.

Few nights later i finished putting the shortblock together with king bearings and ebay studs
should be a pretty healthy 347

getting closer

got the engine assembled, cleaned and painted just about everything, and set it back in the car.
still need to finish a handful of little things but i think i have just about everything i need to finish it up
only piece of the puzzle missing is the intake/elbow

installed a holley single plane intake, holley rails, a giant edelbrock elbow, and a knock off throttle body
had to trim the hood a little, but it fits without cutting a hole

Looking good! Might need a little traction control to get that sucker down the track now.

got the car all finished up and tuned
tried to run it non-intercooled but after a handful of tuning pulls on the street and a few passes at the track i couldnt seem to get it to eat over 20 psi without getting so hot it would eat spark plugs.
pulled enough timing to keep the plugs looking good and it was a slug

the non intercooled setup looked pretty sweet and took some weight off the nose of the car, but i didnt want to risk hurting it every time it went down the track with some power in it

put an intercooler back on and rewelded a ton of cold side pipe and ended up with this

I actually love the look of the non-intercooled setups and would've gone that way on mine, but after hearing all the compromises I decided against it. Yours looks really sharp either way. Nice work.

Thats a shame, any slips for the runs? How did it do with VS without the IC?

Seems like most of the successful hot air E85 guys are running twins. I'd think to get the equivalent of say twin S366's you'd need a single that can put out 150+lbs per min. Like an S588 or some of the big wheel Garrett's. Did you get any charge temp data around 20lbs with the S476?

made a pass on 14psi and it shook the tires pretty bad.
went 5.80 at 122 on a pretty crappy 60'.

iats on medium boost like that were in the 150 ish degree range with ambient temp around 45-50 degrees.
at 25 psi it pegs the iat sensor so i really dont know how hot it got

What happened to all the Cobra parts? just curious.. Mirrors, Rear bumper, Spoiler.

I have a LS swap 99 Cobra and really want to put a Turbo on it, perhaps in time.

they were all gone when i bought the car

took the car to the dyno last weekend and ended up pushing water around 22-23 psi
i was playing around the day before trying to get some data with the intercooler on and made 300kpa and hit the boost cut.
i imagine it hurt a headgasket in the process.

pulling it apart now to have the heads checked and putting a new set of gaskets on.

it has 14 degrees in at peak torque
add 2 more degrees back in way up top like 6500 ish rpm on

im not logging back pressure

it made 981 on that pull
i imagine its just about maxed out there, turbo is supposed to be good for a little over a thousand according to jose

Assumed you richened it up without the IC? I see guys over on the bullet running 10.5:1 or so pegging the sensor without issue. What plugs are you using? Try going a step colder? You didn't want to try meth?

I don't think 150 is bad at all, I've seen IC cars with that IAT

There is that... he just needs another S476 to hang on the other side!
