Sooo i had some time today and some help so pulled the mustang v6 p.o.s.

Then i continued on the motor...
and put in a LS1 cam and new LS7 lifters.

further i installed behive springs innmy 706 heads.
and cleaned out(some would call it porting) the intake runners...i didnt take out a lot of material..so you can call it "very mild port".... Better than nothing lol.

BUT THEN MY BUDDY CALLED. And after a couple hours f***ing with this springs since i havent had a proper spring.compressor.... Hes telling me he got some
LS1 Heads (dont know casting yet) that been proffesionaly ported by a shop... Bowls, runners exaust with new valves and seats true 10:5:1 compression as well as matching coilpack that he'll give me for some change $...

i guess ill do that..
no turbo with this compression but hey..
im looking for the best bank for A $.
so that setup ( truck intake, cam, ported heads, and a good tune) can turn out nice and im still under 750$ for the engine when its done.+ i have a unused NX kit laying arround.
lol

Nice man, I may have missed it but what did you use to clean the motor? I'd like to clean my motor and paint it.

Hey i am pretty new to that too.. so i had to educate myself...
the NOTCH is a small "notch" on the long side of the heads..
certain early casting # heads have this notch.
and they require a bit different Headgaskets than the regular MLS gaskets .
I think ts 97-2001 LS1s and some 5.3 Heads.

the casting # of this heads i use is 806 and in Stock they seem to suck compared to the other "newer" LS1 heads ahaha.
UNLESS you port them, then they hang with the big boys.

Victor reinz part number 54442 makes a good multi layer head gasket for these heads I use them with my 853 heads that have the notch in them and at 18psi with arp head bolts not studs I haven't pushed any water

Got it. Now that I look at your pics again, I think I see what you mean - below the 2nd combustion chamber from the right?

Default new to this

I'm new to the world of LS engines and swaps but I've been a big mustang enthusiast for most of my life. This swap is exactly what I'm gathering parts for as we speak. Got a $350 running v6 and 6.0/4l80e sitting in the shed. A few things I've come to find out I hope you find helpful if your looking to save money.

V6 comes with 302 k member, anything for swapping LS onto mod motor anything won't work.

From what I know the factory k-member is the same from 96-04 regardless of v6 or v8. Prior to 95 this was the case though. I'm looking to keep mine with custom mounts because I don't want to spend any money!

Gauges from your mustang will NOT work for anything else.

I've read about leaving the factory PCM and just feeding it what signals it needs to get it to work. I can't verify or deny it works but for me it's going to be my goal as I'm looking to have the car act and look as factory as possible. Plus I'm cheap as anything and those gauges are already there.

UPR has some engine mounts to work with the stock kmember.
further hooker is/just developed mounts for the stock member as well.
so i keep the stock k member as well..
the right headers will be something to look for.
hooker brings matching headers to there mounts... But for the sn95 not for the new edge..or at least it wasnt tested on the new edge.

Default intake

I just looked through the thread about your heads. Some pretty interesting stuff in there. I've got an older 6.0 with iron heads so I'm leaving them for now because its not in my budget haha.

I thought I also saw you mention you were keeping your stock intake manifold from the truck. From what I've seen/read/told that this wasn't possible with a stock hood and K-member. That I needed an f-body oil pan and ls1 intake. Have you seen otherwise? If you have this would save me time and money since I have a truck manifold too. I guess once I put it in the car it'll be pretty obvious though.
