Any word on how many of these they'll be making? Wonder how long it'll be before we see them on the streets.
I remember I was stoked to see a hellcat in person when they were new, now I feel like I see them more than a regular srt8/392 and it's just "meh"
Dodge will build only 3000 Demons for the U.S. market, and 300 for Canada, in the 2018 model year. Production begins in late summer, with delivery to dealerships taking place this fall. Pricing has not yet been announced, though however much it costs, each buyer will get a free day of driver training at Bob Bondurant School of High-Performance Driving.
I am sure that 9.65 run was on 100 octane fuel, on a really well prepped track and nice cool air. Still awesome someone is making a street legal drag car.
I am willing to bet it makes a lot more power than that. A stone stock HellCat Challenger made 671 to the tires and given even a VERY efficient 20% drivetrain loss that was 839 flywheel hp......
Dodge has really (finally) stepped it up these past few years seriously... Very impressed with them. I mean it comes with a ******* trans brake?! They started off very slow when the new Mustangs, Camaros, Challenger all came out. Then stepped up with the 392 then the Hellcat & now the Demon. a 9 second street legal car with a warranty straight out of the factory!? Sign me up. Cannot wait to see this car when people get their hands on it.
Did anyone else see Hennessey's Camaro he built for to compete with Dodge Demon? Called the Hennessey Exorcist haha 1000 hp. Suppose to take out the Demon. Who knows if that'll actually be true but I'm looking forward to these comparisons in the next few months!

This is good to hear... The thought of a 9 second street car being sold to any yahoo with enough cash sounds scary. Although i'm not sure one day would be enough for the knuckleheads.
This is absolutely incredible stuff from a stock production car. Dodge has stepped up in a way I didn't think they could. Big props to them. I hope for a TT LT4 and a slight bump in cubes from Chevy next..
Hennessey doesn't count IMO. We will never see one (mainly because all the people who buy them won't even see them) but also because it's not a production car like the Demon.
I'm really sick of Hennessey and his dumb cars that never become anything other than a 1-off overrated turd.
Story of Hennessey: Car comes out. Reserves one of the first ones. Puts supercharger/bigger supercharger on it. Claims it's "fastest XYZ car on planet". DUMB!

I know they tested at Royal Purple Raceway and also ran 9's at over 135.

The more I think about it, the more I like the 2017 ZL1 a good bit more than the Demon when comparing the two. Of course because it's a Camaro, but mainly because it is without a doubt a more complete car than the Dodge. I dont know if the Demon can do anything else other than drag. The ZL1 can do it all it seems.. Still without question a badass factory car though.
I really like the idea of a car coming out for drag racing. I'm sick of everything being built so hard for corners. I know very few people who road track a car. I know hundreds that love to drag race and go fast in a straight line...
