Default C6 vette starter in fbody

The C6 vette starter is about $80 cheaper than the fbody or truck starter. I've seen it discussed and the only difference to the truck starter is the connector on the solenoid. I was just going to make my own connector, but the solenoid swapped over and it was much easier

My old starter was failing and the truck starters are pricey, this seems to be the cheapest solution and you get the advantage of the longer starter bolts

So here's a few pictures of me swapping the solenoids. Starter is already installed and working flawlessly in my camaro

Nice! I wonder if there's any way to get the pigtail for the connector on the solenoid. Would make it easier to swap if you ever had an issue down the road.

Very nice, looks like it saves a little bit of room as well over the old starter. I'm with Happy on the connector as well. It would help down the road if you ever had to do it again and also would eliminate having to use an old, used solenoid on a brand new starter. Most of the starter problems I've ever personally had have been bad solenoids.

For connector the only thing I could find would have been to just use a female spade connector. Didn't seem like it would be water proof enough to last the test of time.

I'm assuming the vette starters are cheaper because not many have failed from regular use, and most vettes stay lower mileage compared to the trucks. Thay also means a rebuilt one is also coming from much less use and probably as a lower mileage situation than a typical truck starter core. Win win

So... I don't think this is against the rules... I don't know of any sponsors that sell this part ... Mods if this isn't allowed I'm sorry lol.

That's the connector for the starter. Took a couple seconds of googling to find, there's another website that's selling these for like 80 bucks (but who's going to pay that for a single connector? lol)

Unfortunately my motor is currently torn apart, and probably won't be coming back together until late fall/early winter. But I'll let you guys know lol.

does the C6 starter have the longer stud like the truck starters have or identical to the LS1 starter?

I'm not surprised this works. I've never tried it with a C6 starter, but I did use an LT1's starter in my 1992 Formula Firebird. The fat *** stock starter was so big I had to drop the exhaust system to change it out. The LT1 starter meant that I'd never have to do that again.

From the pics I've seen they updated the design and it's similar to the truck starters.

It has the longer studs, so you would need to purchase the Dorman brand replacement starter bolts

The solenoids are the exact same size, I swapped them so i wouldn't have to purchase this connector

Uploaded your pic of the starter wire. Ebay isn't a vendor selling the parts so I don't believe it goes against site policy
