I have been on a search for a 4L60e to put behind my 5.3 & 3 places I stopped by today told me the transmission has to be a 2002 also for it to work. I need to know if thats true because I found a 2wd trans in a 07 Silverado but I need to know if that one will work before I buy it. Anyone reading this have a 02 engine with a different year trans thats working fine, please let me know.
There are 2 different versions of the 4L60E in 2007, A ISS equipped version & a Non-ISS version........BOTH will work with ANY 1996-2005 PCM. If this trans happens to be a ISS 4L60E.....Those pins will not be used.
Were you actually given a reason why only a 2002 trans will fit a 2002 vehicle?? Because I would love to hear it.

I wasn't given a reason or a difference between the 02 trans vs. the rest when I asked. They just said thats what the computer say. This was LQK & 2 other places that probably use the same parts locating system. Since you say the 07 will work I will go pick it up today. Thanks!
That is typical of the interchange programs the yards use,any minor change like a bracket or connector will limit the listing to a certain year. You will need to change the neutral switch to the one that matches your harness, most of the time the yard monkeys break it because the connector is glued in from the factory them so you will likely be buying a new switch.

I picked the trans up earlier & you were correct! The only noticible difference is the neutral safety switch. Im not using one with my swap so its no big deal to me. I will just remove it & get this thing installed sometime tomorrow.
