Am I calculating compression wrong?

Default Am I calculating compression wrong?

Trying to figure out what my compression would be for my lq4 setup and no matter what calculator I'm using it comes out weird? Or am I just reading it wrong ?

The deck clearance number is wrong. Like my car the piston is out of the whole .007" so I would put that there and it calculated correct for me

That I do not know. I know Ls1's are .005" - .009" and I measured .007" on my motor.

Until someone with more knowledge posts up I would have to imagine the Lq4 is in the same window of deck clearance.

The number you put in I'm assuming it's deck height and they are looking for clearance. (Piston out of the hole)

I think you would be fine putting .005" - .007" in for a rough idea.

I thought that LQ4's had dished pistons.

That's been my understanding, with LQ9's having flat tops for more compression, plus a different cam for more power to boot.

My lq4 had dished pistons but didn't know what they measured... doing a search came up a couple examples that were actually measured and one said 6.7 dish and the other was 7.0 dish.

Your gaskets thickness is .510 That is over 1/2" Should be .051
