Dumb question
Dumb question I did the research ( I thought) and found that all LS motors are designated LSX, so I bought a badge to put on my TA. A friend told me that the badge denotes the big boy LSX motor and I should take it off...i don't want to be a poser...what do you guys think? If you saw this what would you think? Does the "red" X denote a motor that I don't have (I have the stock LS1)

This is not the same as the common internet acronym of "LSx" to describe all the Gen III/IV SBC V8s.
If I saw that badge on a car, I would assume it had an LSX crate engine such as the one linked above, not a stock LS1.

There are no such things as "dumb questions", just dumb answers! We all love our f-bodies and we all want to customize and add our own special touches to them to suit the driving or hobby of ours. You made an honest mistake, hopefully the badge didn't cost a ton of money, and now you can throw on something more appropriate without "posing".

Its the right size anyway.. and has the added bonus of ticking off BMW owners.. (I'm one but I have a sense of humpr.. )

it could have the fraction LS(1/2)x
and you can take half of some plastic panel off an LSx and bolt it to the engine also,
take half of everything from an LSx and retrofit it visibly (just for looks)
while ur at it paint half the car a different color
I always go badgeless because the way a badge is attached to a car is a mystery to me I've never figured out. Instead, I get $2 wal-mart paints and paint parts of the car that have been damaged or scratched, but in obvious acrylic style (not like trying to blend it in)
My last car had a couple 'broken' painted parts, first the exterior front lip (from being so low for 10 years+), and a mock (broken piece of worthless junk) fan shroud that I painted to look "functional" and the fuse box I just figured what the hell why not. Honestly on your personal joy ride do anything you want and @#)()@_ what other people tell you. except if it means it might get stolen. I'd rather make the car look like junk and keep it.

As for the generic "LSx" term, I'm curious about why you'd want that in the first place? Since you have an LS1, why not get something that specifically says LS1 rather than some generic engine family term? IMO, this would be sort of like putting an "SBC" badge on an old Gen I 262/265/267/283/302/305/307/327/350/400 CID car for example - most would rather have something that specifies actual displacement or a specific engine (such as what the factory did/would do.)
As I ponder this, I see your signature and see that you are using LSx.

)Maybe it should just the "LS" with nothing after it??? The only thing that can beat an "x" as a wild card is a whole lot of nothing and mystery...
